Sclafani’s New York Bagels and Bread

Our bagels are made with the proper process of water-boiled bagels – New York Style! First, the dough is shaped and left to sit in a refrigerator for a couple of days. The cool temperatures slow down the activity of yeast in the dough as it rises. This longer, slower fermentation generates the tasty flavor you experience. Next comes the key step – boiling! The chilled dough rings are boiled in water, locking the liquid inside and expanding the interior. This is the secret that thickens the crust, giving it a beautiful, shiny glaze and the chewy (not doughy!) bite we all enjoy. We hope that you savor our bagels each time you visit!

The plain bagel closest to a Brooklyn NY experience you’ll get, everyone was extremely friendly. Food was fresh and made to go quickly. The lox’s fresh and they don’t skimp on the cream cheese.

As a busy local Realtor nothing is more important to me than family time. My kids and I have a Sunday tradition. We hike around Sherando then get brunch at Sclafani’s! This place is always so busy but the staff is truly wonderful. The young lady that greets us is always so kind to my kids and a great person in general. The food is always perfect. Our go to items are bagel sandwiches with sausage egg and cheese, French toast bagels and a loaf of bread to go that makes great garlic bread or meatball subs! This family owned business will not disappoint. Tell them Chris Roszko the local Realtor sent you!

100% will be going back again next weekend. I love a good bagel and cream cheese and a coworker mentioned this place to me a while back. Finally tried it out and I definitely understand the hype. I thought I was gonna miss the NY and NJ bagel scene when I moved here but thankfully these guys got me covered. The staff are friendly and even with a crowd of people waiting on items they had the orders ready so fast, and I don’t mind the prices at all, we paid around $8.50 for two bagels with cream cheese which was 100% worth it for me. Will be back 🙂

These are NOT NY bagels. I’m a NY’er new to the area and thought, great! No, nit even close. Save yourself money and go to McDonalds or a deli. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese and the bacon was Black to top it all off. Unbelievable for $6+ dollars.

The absolute BEST bagel joint around. We came here on our last day living in the area and we wished we had been coming here all along. We ordered several bagels and several sandwiches but the best for us was the cinnamon and raisin bagel with their blackberry cream cheese. The plain cream cheese is great too, don’t get me wrong, but you gotta try something new.

They have some great coffees as well that are made to order.

My kiddos really liked watching the guy making the bagels and putting them in their huge oven. Once the line died down a good bit, we went back for seconds right when we saw a fresh batch of bagels coming out. Yum!

The inside of the place was great too. I truly enjoyed seeing their support for local law enforcement, military and Jesus with their prayer wall and scriptures on the wall.

A hidden gem that surprised us when we retired to Winchester. Winchester is not known as a foodie town, yet (I have hope), but a city with a really good bagel shop- heck yeah!

Service is good, owners and employees are very pleasant and always greet with a smile and thank you.

This was my families first time at Sclafani’s New York Bagel, and first impressions are very important.
I will say the parking was a little challenging, but I soon found why.
There were people sitting outside like a big fun community, lots of laughter and social smiles. So I already had a good first impression when I walked in, and then the line went fast, even though it was longer than I intended it on being. But NOW I SEE WHY!!!
This place is amazing.
My kids are picky and with my husband being from Long Island, I was hoping this would live up to his New York standards and it did!
My kids enjoyed their breakfast bagels and my husband enjoyed the abundance of cream cheese.
Will most definitely return.
Need to try that cheese steak I have heard of

I must say in the past I have had nothing but good things to say about Scalafanis. That being said, I thought last time I got bagels it was maybe a one off bad time – poppy seed bagels should actually have a good portion of the poppy seeds stay on the bagels, plus the bagels do not seem to have the same quality they had many times in the past! They almost seemed undercooked. I ordered again yesterday and again was disappointed not only to find the same thing happened, but was also not happy with the service. I called ahead of time and ordered a dozen bagels, just needed to pick them up. The cashier disappeared when I got there, with nobody taking their place, and was gone for a good deal of time. There were plenty of people around, but not one would make eye contact, or just say someone will be with you shortly. Once the cashier did come back there was no sorry for your wait or thank you, just handed me my bagels and that was it. Now, I understand being busy and stressed, my job is both, but I always put customer service first. I don’t usually write bad reviews, but twice burnt on the quality of the bagels, along with bad service, I felt something needed to be said. Too bad I don’t feel like going back now as it used to be a wonderful place that I always went to for my bagels.
