The Historic Village Diner in Red Hook, NY is a unique piece of history that you can experience a great meal at. The diner is a 1927 Silk City model. At the time of its manufacture the diners came prefabricated with cups, glasses, and silverware. On the side of the diner as you walk in you will notice the diner’s old name, the “Halfway Diner” because of its location halfway between Albany and NYC. The diner has a ton of historic and nostalgic value.
The food here is great and the diner has a large dessert menu. It is possible to dine in or order take out. Portion sizes here are large. If you dine in you will love the ambience of this diner with its counter and booths. The service here is great! No place serves food and history better than this one.

Awesome, just plain American food, no nonsense. Everything was quality home cooking at an affordable price. I truly hope it doesn’t change.

I love this diner. I like the atmosphere: classic rail at diner. The food is good and the service is excellent! Be prepared: cash only and they are VERY popular. It is worth the wait (or sit at the counter)!

Great breakfast food, great prices, and a comfy classic aesthetic.
Not a ton of parking spaces, but you can park for free along the entire road if needed.

The diner does not accept card. It was crowded and the food was okay. Ordered the Eggs Benedict and the hollandaise was sweet?

Eating at diners is a cultural experience and nothing beats doing so at a Registry-recognized diner! Love the cozy atmosphere and retro decorations. Menu was visibly made with love and attention to detail. Wait staff was friendly and food was served promptly. Salmon tasted fresh, pumpkin pie was on point, and mulled cider was super yummy! A great experience overall.

The western omelette and the cheese burger were so nice! Especially, the French fries are perfect cook and crispy. Also the hospitality was very nice. I would like to come back when we drive around here!

Unfortunately this is the first and only time I’ve sent a meal back. I had such high hopes for this little diner!
I ordered the roast beef, if i had known it was heated deli meat with a strangely tart gravy I never would have ordered it. I took one bite and could barely stomach it.
I decided to order a burger instead which took almost half a hour to arrive.
My MIL didn’t like her burger saying it had no flavor, we were informed they put not seasoning at all on the burger. So strange. I’ve never heard of someone not using salt and pepper at minimum.
I took my burger to go since after sitting in a cramped corner for an hour and 20 minutes I was completely ready to go.
The salad, roll, and fries were fantastic.
This may have been a one off but since I’m only in town one day a year I won’t bother trying it again.

Amazing throwback diner in Red Hook. Had a delicious breakfast with very reasonable prices. Sat at the counter, enjoyed the service, and met a few very kind locals. I’d put this establishment on repeat.

So my husband and I stopped at the Historic Village diner for breakfast on 9/10/2022. Upon entry into the diner we were great immediately be a young lady name Piper she was the host she let me know that she just needed to wipe down a table. I could see it was a very busy morning. I took our waitress a bit to come over. When our waitress came over it was very rushed.
I order two eggs with corned beef hash and eggs and homefries the homefries have onions have onions. When I asked if I could have the homefries without onions the waitress basically said it would be to much trouble to do it without homefries. I found my waitress Barbara to be a little bit snooty. While sitting in the diner I found it to very clean and charming with a lot of history. When our food came Barbara placed our food on the table and ran. Not one time did our waitress come back to check on us and see how everything was. The food was amazing. While I was waiting for out food I noticed how hard the other memembers of the wait staff were working. Piper and Blythe are super stars they were on point. Blythe came by to see if we needed coffee. Not only did Blythe handle her own tables. But she also was running food out to Barbara tables as well. I am not sure if Barbara can handle being a waitress. Blythe and Piper and the rest of the staff are a 5 star. Barbara is the reason for a 4 star.
Would I go back absolutely. The food was awesome.

I want to thank Blythe for bring me and my husband more coffee.

Remember have fun with what your doing and keep it real , because you know I do
