I randomly came by and it was the owner birthday JEAN TOUSSAINT birthday so they were grilling and giving free food !! Omg they welcomed us in with open arms and was so kind ! PLEASE READ! The food taste good. However the customer service is horrible. To top that! The health inspector closed them down because of health violation. A portion of the article from Miami Herald inserted below…
▪ Grio Express, 4308 SR 7, Lauderdale Lakes — Don’t know what the food portion size is at Grio, but they gave the inspector rodent poop by the pound on Jan. 31, hitting triple digits in one spot: 100 fresh droppings behind the two glass doors by reach-in cooler at prep area.
There were another 20 fresh droppings behind reach-in cooler in the kitchen. Unfortunately for Grio, all that didn’t distract the inspector from the proliferation of roaches — 10 live ones around the reach-in cooler and another 10 live under it, as well as two live ones under shelves by the kitchen prep table. Some turkey and griot had to be tossed after being kept at too warm a temperature.
Grio was back open Feb. 1. And it was closed again Feb 15, 2018.
The inspector didn’t need to see the 20 fresh poop pellets behind a freezer or 30 fresh ones behind a prep table and reach-in cooler. A larger piece of evidence, a dead rodent, sat on the glue pad behind the freezer in the dry storage area.
And there were more live roaches: 16 of them. And three times as many varieties of food tossed on a Stop Sale for temperature abuse: chicken, turkey, cooked turkey, pork, goat. Grio opened the next day again.

The worst Haitian restaurant ever and I mean ever the Grio was hard and I ordered something that was supposed to have seafood in it didn’t have any. And I called back there and all she told me was I should have checked it before I left. Being a truck driver I try different foods and I have had some great Haitian food around Florida and this was the worst. No way should they be open during what’s going on in the world now

The food are not bad, but I recently went there some of the ladies in the kitchen are complaining about how this particular job isn’t suitable for them. The owner may want to either pay them better or hire people with better character and customer service. This particular woman looks like in her 40s I had to walk back in and reprimand her, because she had a disgusting look in her face, even as she swipe my card. And she said if she knew that’s how her life would be , she would have stay in Haiti. The older woman said it’s because she had to do both kitchen and cashier. If Restorant job is too low for her, why is she there? And if she was a rich woman and Haiti, why she don’t go back to her riches. the other claim she had big profession in Haiti. Haitians could be very ungrateful to God!!! On 12/29 I went there again, very unprofessional. Another lady was cashing out a customer, she look at me with this very insultive body language. And walk away telling this old man to ask me what do I want, without any greetings. I don’t trust them if they was people who are Christians they would be more decent, but when they’re not saved playing with that voodoo stuff it reflects in their attitude. No thanks, I’ll take my money somewhere else.
