Social Profile:

Café Sophie is a European style café with a Scandinavian influence in the Montgomery County Airpark main terminal building. Sandy and Tom, founders are foodies. Tom is from Bergen, Norway, which is the reason for the European style food. We provide indoor and outdoor air-side dining serving breakfast, lunch, and grab ‘n go sandwiches. The cafe received a complete makeover in the spring and summer of 2021, providing a comfy European vibe. The cafe is named after the owner’s sweet golden doodle. Sophie loves to greet everyone!

Amazon family run place, the couple were very sweet and take care of each and every customer very carefully. They keep moving around with samples and talking to the patrons.
The food was amazing and I believe they are still following the proper European standards. With glogg taking the first place. The beef stew and the sausages were excellent with serving of freshly baked sour bread.
We also took the cookies which were very great.
The service was timely and the view is very unique with small aircraft’s around and the runway.
The place is little packed and compact(especially in winters), probably summers might have extra space with outdoor seating open.

Hidden gem! Great food, atmosphere, service, and prices. Only Norwegian restaurant I’ve ever found in MD (there’s plenty of American food on the menu too). Very cool atmosphere next to the runway, scenes of Norway on the screens, and Sophie (Golden Retriever) made an appearance during my meal. Food was excellent and service was on point. Definitely coming back!

Café Sophie is such a fun brunch spot where you can enjoy a delicious meal while watching planes take off and land. The breakfast and Nordic-inspired dishes are fresh and flavorful, and the elderberry juice is a standout, refreshing and unique, it pairs perfectly with the food.

Over several visits, everything I’ve tried has been excellent, which is why we keep coming back.

The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, with a cozy charm that makes it just as nice for a casual weekend brunch as for bringing friends to share the experience. The owners are friendly and often stop by to check in, while the servers remember returning guests and go out of their way to make each visit special. Café Sophie feels like a hidden gem that always leaves you wanting to return.

I love this little out of the way spot. They have really great food, with some unique Scandinavian offerings. Everything I’ve eaten there has been delicious, especially the breakfast potatoes. It’s not a big place, maybe 15 tables in the dining room, and a few more on the outside deck. If you sit outside you can watch the planes taking off and landing. The service can be a little hit or miss, as they seem to have quite a bit of turnover in the staff, but don’t let that stop you from coming. There may be a wait if you come on the weekend. Do not recommend for groups larger than 4.

This little restaurant is such a family favorite of ours!! Our little guy loves watching the planes take off while we eat breakfast outside on the patio. The food is fantastic, the service is amazing & the atmosphere is so fun!! It has quickly become our favorite brunch spot in the DMV & Maryland!! Jack was our waiter today & his plane jokes were spectacularly hilarious!!

First time going here and will definitely be back. Excellent food. I had the chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Coffee was fresh. Our server was great. Just the right balance of letting us eat, but checking in on us from time to time. The view was really cool too with the planes arriving/departing.

This lovely cafe is located on the 2nd floor of Montgomery Airpark, right above Washington International Flight Academy. The service was excellent, including the servers and kitchen staff. I ordered KJØTTKAKER, including housemade all beef Norwegian beef cakes, boiled potato, mushy green peas and lingonberries. I asked if I could have the brown sauce separately since I am sensitive to salt. The kitchen staff was so kind to put the items in separate bowls so I could add the brown sauce according to my preference. The food was so yummy. My husband ordered a Mediterranean Salad with a piece of salmon. The salmon was beautifully cooked, the salad was tasty and the pita-like bread was really good. It was fun watching small planes fly by. Highly recommend this cafe. It was our first visit and we will definitely go back soon!

Served cold bacon, they took it back and said they’d provide a newly made one – only for them to bring it back out as is but warmed via microwave or something. Then, my partner’s oatmeal was ordered with milk on the side, it was served with excess milk poured in and a cold omelette. It was a bad experience and the coffee was bad. Paid $45 for absolutely nothing.

While the service was good and the food was decent, it was overpriced. I appreciate the locally sourced ingredients, but $20+ for an English Breakfast with black and white pudding is a excessive. I am saying this ignoring the fact that when the English Breakfast was brought to the table it lacked toast or the black and white pudding. The sever quickly remedied this when it was brought to his attention. If you enjoy small aircraft in a relaxed (albeit noisy for obvious reasons) café, I recommend visiting here. With that said, I cannot recommend the “European” options due to the price points.

Came for lunch, stayed for the plane spotting! This was my first visit here. Great food, great service, awesome plane watching from the patio seating. I will definitely be back with my kids. Love all the Sophie photos/decor. I hope to meet her on a visit one day!

Update: We got to meet Sophie today! She was so sweet.
