That said I did enjoy the reduced menu options for dinner. They had a couple different options like a Thanksgiving day meal and swordfish. Being a vegetarian I was a little bit worried at first, but I asked my waiter if they could make me up a pasta dish and they were able to give me a spaghetti with red sauce after checking with the chef. The swordfish was OK for my mother, but it was nothing special and I was a little bit disappointed because I was expecting it to be amazing.
The restaurant itself and the hotel it was in was absolutely beautiful. This is a must go place if you’re visiting New Orleans. There are so many different places to take pictures and in the waitstaff are willing to do pictures.
So we wait and wait. It turned out if you stood in front of her she was more likely to call you, reservation or not. My girlfriend had made the reservation on open table which required a credit card number and said in BIG BOLD LETTERS that there was a fee for cancelling of $25. My girlfriend cannot recall whether that was per person or per reservation, but what it came down to is that they were not honoring their reservations. Management who I spoke to said they don’t do this but other diners have confirmed that they were required to put a deposit down. So multiple reviews confirm the deposit policy at least on open tables end requires a deposit.
So about an hour and ten minutes after our reservation we were seated. We had never been told nor was it advertised as a buffet. The carving table was unmanned. Half of the food trays were empty and the remainder was cold and seemed like leftovers.
The attitude in the room was hostile because everyone was not getting what they had been promised. The food was bad and there was a hostile crowd whilst still there were 50 people waiting in the bar area.
I contacted management who said they were going to offer recompense and call all guests. Of course that never happened.
Apparently their single hostess and hotel staff could not handle how many they booked and then took people without reservations as we heard people without reservations being put on the list.
Frankly this was the worst restaurant meal I have ever had. Everyone in the room was angry, and the buffet ended at 2:30. There were nearly 100 patrons in the bar area looking angry when we left. They were dismantling the buffet, at 2:20 and still seating patrons. These had to eat left overs or order from the menu…..but the menu was out of many things. Patrons who had raved and attended the event for 10 years with parties of 8+ said this was horrific and he would never come back. Others on Yelp claimed what sounds like food poisoning.
The restaurant and hotel simply let a chaotic experience happen and then disappeared. The servers disappeared. Then they said they would contact the guests. That never happened. We are challenging the charge. I hope others do as well.
