Small but amazing pizza joint. They had a few hi tops and a small counter to eat at inside. And when the weather is nice (not January in Ann Arbor lol) they have a few tables outside!
It is located in the middle of U of M, so parking will be an issue. Use a nearby garage and walk. Street parking is free on Sundays.

The pizza was AMAZING!!!! SOOOO DELICIOUS! I had the caprese. Omgn it was phenomenal!!! I was with two 12 yr old fussy eaters and even THEY loved their pizza slices!!!

Decor is simple: photos of the original Joe from NYC with various stars. Or photos of the stars eating Joe’s New York style pizza in NYC!! It was fun to see.

The counter worker who took our order & put the slices in the pizza oven was friendly and made good suggestions. He was quick, but also patient w the kiddos.

I will come back!!! We even told friends and they are excited to try it too!

Visiting from NYC, I was genuinely surprised to spot Joe’s Pizza right here in Ann Arbor. The location is perfect, nestled just steps away from the University of Michigan, making it super convenient for students, visitors, and anyone craving a classic NYC slice.

I wasn’t even hungry, but I still ordered a Caprese slice—and it turned out to be the best slice of New York-style pizza I’ve had in a long time. The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is slightly sweet and well-balanced, and the cheese and tomato are fresh and flavorful. Everything about it was just perfect.

The shop keeps the classic Joe’s vibe alive: a wall of celebrity photos, a counter lined with giant pizza trays, and that familiar, fast-paced energy. It’s amazing to see an NYC institution brought to life so faithfully in the Midwest. Highly recommend ed!

Took my daughter down to the school of dentistry for a consultation and we ended up at Joe’s pizza because she was hungry. I had a slice of pepperoni and she had a cheese slice. I’ve had a lot of pizza in my life and this was hands down the BEST pizza I’ve ever had. The crust was thin and airy and had the perfect amount of crunch. The sauce was slightly sweet and with just the right amount. The cheese tasted like it was fresh and the pepperoni was flavorful. Service was friendly and came with a smile. Considering that it was right next to the U of M campus the prices seemed fair. Plus you can’t go wrong eating in the middle of everyone wearing maize and blue.

It’s the best pizza I have ever tried, and the workers were nice. I definitely suggest that when visiting New York, you try this place.

Went in with a couple friends after work and the place felt cozy right away. The staff was friendly without being over the top, and our pizzas came out pretty quick. Crust had a nice chew and the toppings tasted fresh, especially the veggies. I liked that the slices weren’t super greasy like some spots. Prices felt fair for what you get. Only small thing is it was a bit noisy, but nothing crazy. Overall, a good pizza place I’d go back to when I’m in the area again.

Delicious, famous pizza here in Ann Arbor. Thin sliced pizza was my favorite, definitely a go to. Nice indoor and outdoor seating areas as well. The 5 dollar minimum for credit cards was kind of annoying if you only buy one slice, but adding a bottle of water didn’t hurt. Still worth it though.

I just picked up 3 pies before the blizzard hit. Not satisfied and extremely disappointed , I’m not sure what joes did to their recipe here in Ann Arbor but it’s not what I remember at all.

I remember when they first opened up here some 6-7 years ago, the pizza tasted like I was back home in NYC and I visited almost on a weekly basis. I would brag to my Michigan friends that this is what real pizza is suppose to taste like. But I haven’t been here for about a couple months till tonight, which I regret.

They made their slices wayyyy thinner than what they should be, tonight. Not sure if the crew got lazy making these pies due to the blizzard or what. But I think I only got 1 more visit in me left before I write them off as a place that’ll just, make and bake it because “where else would all the college kids go.”

That’s how bad my pies were tonight, usually I have to stop myself by slice 4, tonight I had to force myself to finish the first to feel like I got my moneys worth.

It is a good solid NY pizza but its doesn’t stand out as a great NY style pizza. The Sicilian is lacking in garlic and the NY is fairly bland.
The crust is great and the cheese is probably Grande, which is good but the sauce is unremarkable.
If I had more time, I would hit Backroom Pizza. My friend says its better.

This pizza tastes like burned oven.

I was intrigued by the good online reviews, so I decided to try this place. I ordered a cheese pizza for delivery, no modifications. I was a bit disappointed to see so many big bubbles in the cheese when I opened the box. I tried a slice and was immediately disappointed. All I can taste is burned food. I have no idea what the sauce tastes like. All I taste is burn flavor. I can’t taste the cheese either. I’m not sure if it’s this place’s thing to overcook their pies or if I was just unlucky. I know some people really like dry, black, hard crunch, cracker pizza, but it’s definitely not for me. This pie was way over done. I’ll never understand why people like to eat food that just tastes like burned food. NYPD is so much better for authentic NY pizza, unless charred pie is your thing, then definitely order here!
