Oko is my favorite restaurant in CT! The vibe is amazing, the sushi is the best I’ve ever had and the service is fantastic. That said, I was disappointed with my most recent experience.
I brought friends to Oko for their first time, and we each ordered our own nigiri. I ordered 6 pieces of the cedar smoked black cod (my favorite), 3 Ora king salmon, 3 hamachi yellowtail, and 1 otoro tuna. When I placed my order, the server asked, “Are you sure? That’s 13 pieces.” I said yes. At first I thought she was being nice and just wanted to make sure I knew what I was ordering, but after my friends ordered, she came back to me and asked a few more times if I was sure. She even commented that it was a lot of food and asked if I just wanted order 3 pieces of the cod instead of 6. I’m not sure if ordering that much is unusual, but that’s pretty much all that I was planning on having for dinner besides 3 pieces of crispy rice so I figured the amount I ordered was okay lol.
After being asked by the server multiple times if I was sure, I eventually just gave up the last time she asked and changed my order to 3 pieces of cod instead of 6. Our whole table didn’t understand why I couldn’t order what I wanted, especially since I was paying for it. My family and I have ordered more than this on previous visits and never had an issue.
I’ll definitely be back because the food is incredible and every other visit has come with amazing service! I want it to be clear that every other server and staff member that I have ever interacted with at Oko have been fantastic and friendly. This interaction just felt off, I’ve never experienced this at a restaurant before. Here are some pics of the food from my previous visits! The flavors of each piece are unreal! (Most portions were for the whole table lol)

Amazing experience. Great service, loved the decor and atmosphere was comfortable. The sticky ribs were one of the best things I ever put into my mouth, along with the crunchy rice waygu they have on the menu. Miso soup, truffled eggs, and the HUGE bento box were on point. The desserts were phenomenal, don’t sleep on those matcha Kit Kats! I despite matcha and you can’t taste any of the match (which was a plus for me, maybe not for others). Pictured if their insane double chocolate cake.

Amazing dinner. We sat at the bar which was the best call. Nancy is beyond fantastic and took care of us all night. She gave us the perfect menu recommendations and we had such a wonderful experience. We cannot wait to come back (and sit at the bar again because Giuliana is also amazing).

OKO delivers a truly memorable dining experience from start to finish. The Japanese inspired menu bursts with creativity and flavor from impeccably fresh sushi and sashimi to inventive dishes that balance tradition with modern flair. Every bite feels thoughtfully composed and delicious, making this a must visit destination in Westport for fans of Japanese cuisine and sushi lovers alike. Highly recommended.

Went here with my partner for a celebratory meal and was not disappointed. Loved how almost the entire menu was gluten free! My partner hadn’t had tempura since she got her celiacs diagnosis so that was the main draw. The sushi was so fresh and flavorful. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive and knowledgeable. We loved our cocktails and the bartenders sake recommendation. We will definitely be back.

This was my first time at Oko and I have to say, I’m in love! The vibe is COOL and a great place for a first date. The food however, was insane. I recommend the beef crispy and then I also loved the deviled egg appetizer! Everything was so fresh and also presented so beautifully. The green tea was also very special.
The difference between Oko and any other Japanese restaurant is the service. The staff was so knowledgeable about the menu and was so attentive and kind. Julianna was so sweet and helpful. I cannot wait to come back!

Very welcoming and catered to by staff! The food presentation was picture-perfect. The taste of each plate was a different experience to enjoy. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate and played great music. You must make reservations ahead of time in order to dine in. Overall, I would say the food taste was an 8.5 out of 10, but the service from all the staff was a firm 10 out of 10. I would recommend this place to those who love Sushi.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oko in Westport is an absolute gem. The nigiri here is some of the freshest I’ve ever had — each piece practically melts in your mouth with clean, delicate flavors that let the quality of the fish shine. The edamame is surprisingly delicious too, packed with flavor that makes it hard to stop snacking. And the bao buns? Absolutely killer — fluffy, savory, and worth the trip on their own.
The atmosphere is warm and modern, perfect for date night or a casual night out with friends. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and everything came out beautifully presented.
If you’re looking for sushi that’s on another level, paired with sides that hit just as hard, Oko should be at the top of your list.

A classy way to experience Japanese cuisine! Love the vibe at this former firehouse. We visited on a Wednesday evening and they were packed, so this is definitely a popular spot, and for good reason! They have a great variety on the menu with some unique items that I don’t see too often on typical Japanese restaurants, like the crab fried rice with quail eggs and wild mushroom bao. We really enjoyed the matcha Kit Kats for dessert! Impressive timing from the kitchen and professional staff. Definitely a great place to dine in Westport!

Quality and variety of the fish is amazing here. Also, do not miss out on the drinks; each one is unique and perfectly made. A bit on the pricier side, but for what you are getting you’ll have to make the trek into the city for any close comparison. Service was very attentive.
