Im a little disappointed in my Stephans sandwich. It was just okay. The bun was soft and flavorful and the sausage and brisket were good but the pork was so dry and there wasn’t enough sauce to help it. Also dont even bother putting coleslaw on the sandwich if you’re only going to give me a tablespoon of it. Couldn’t even tell if it was good or not becuz it got lost in the sandwich.

Flavor is decent on the brisket but its dry and you’ll definitely need to add sauce. The ribs also had decent flavor but they were on the thinner side and didnt have the amount of meat on them you’d expect. Jalapeño sausage ok. Mac and cheese was pretty good and the ranchero beans was just normal pinto beans with a couple of chopped peppers in them. Overall not worth the cost. Other local BBQ places definitely have them beat.

We stopped at Happy Trails Barbecue while passing through Palestine, TX and were impressed! The moist brisket was outstanding, ribs were a hit with the kids, and the sausages were flavorful but not too spicy. Pulled pork was solid, and the sauce tied it all together.

I would not recommend this barbecue place to anyone I went through there and never ate there before got a pulled pork sandwich plate and a glass of sweet tea that costed me $18 when I drove cuz I got it to go when I went to eat it the pulled pork had no smoked flavor whatsoever it looked white like it had been boiled and it was big square trucks it tasted absolutely horrible it was bland there was no flavor and it sure was not smoked the owner was who I called and talked to she told me she would refund my money when I came back through I went back through there yesterday the owner was there in the Drive-Thru wanted to argue with me and say that she’s been awarded for her pulled pork while I’m sorry it must have been a homeless person that didn’t know anything about food because it was horrible the tea tasted like there was a chemical in it so I didn’t even drink it it was thrown out she told me it was my taste buds she wanted to argue with me and then did not refund my full amount for the meal she only refunded the sandwich instead of refunding the full price of the meal like she told me on the phone that she would so they are dishonest they are serving food that is unedible and they’re claiming it’s smoked when there’s no barbecue flavor or taste whatsoever and their barbecue sauce just tastes like Louisiana hot sauce with a little ketchup so I would not recommend anyone go there to eat

I will say the food is exceptional. The wonderful lady who is in charge of the restaurant is very conscience of the satisfaction of each customer. I purchased a 3 meat to go container(2) for myself and my wife and the meals were very fulfilling. They offer many sides to complement each meal. I suggest ordering the Ranchero beans as they are very favorable. I purchased the 3 meat meal, which consisted of beef, sausage, and ribs. I got sausage which had japenlo. The service is very personable. They have a new item on the menu, loaded potato fries.. I recommend this restaurant for barbecue and friendly service. This place has all ones barbecue needs. Stop by if you are traveling through Palestine,Texas!!

Pleasantly surprised with how good it was. Brisket was good, charro beans were great, Mac & cheese was good and the jalepeno sausage was better than many I’ve had. Excited to have a place like this in my hometown.

Highly disappointed. $50+ for below mediocre bbq, brisket was too fatty and greasy, the sausage had a bad taste, the Mac and cheese was awful, the coleslaw was very bland, and the sauce tasted like watered down ketchup with a tiny amount of seasoning. Overall just not good bbq and way too pricey to not be good quality. Only getting 1 star bc my little enjoyed the ribs.
