Unfortunately, the food this time didn’t quite meet expectations. The fish was cooked well, but it really lacked flavor. The shrimp and scallops were also inconsistent in their cook; some were fine, but several bordered on overcooked. For the price point, especially when spending around $90 for two people, we really expect consistency and top-notch quality.
One thing we had forgotten from our previous visit is that the restaurant upsells drink sizes without mentioning it. If you don’t specifically request the smaller size, they automatically serve the larger one. It’s a small detail, but it feels sneaky and honestly a bit annoying.
We also ran into the same issue we had a year ago with the gift card. It was purchased online as a gift, but once again it couldn’t be used in the restaurant. Apparently it only works online, which makes the in-person dining gift card essentially unusable. Staff were kind and said they would bring it up to management, but it’s disappointing that this glitch still hasn’t been fixed after all this time.
We were genuinely excited when this restaurant first opened and were really wowed by it. Lately, though, the experience feels hit or miss. We still want to love this place, but consistency matters—especially at this price point. With just a bit more attention to detail in the kitchen and clarity with gift cards and drink sizes, this could easily return to being one of our favorites.
Down to it… Another Mexican restaurant! Trust me, I’m not complaining. This could very easily become my new favorite. The food here is outstanding. The wife and I shared the Molcajete which is HUGE! Comes with two side plates with beans, rice, and flour tortillas. The drink menu was very enticing, we just had to try something, absolutely beautiful! All their drinks coming out looked top notch.
Service was crazy! They have probably the most comprehensive team service I’ve ever seen. There were people bringing more chips and salsa and filling drinks left and right. One downside was food auctioning, which if you’ve read my reviews, is a pet peeve of mine. Food should always be placed in front of the person who ordered it, not asked to be claimed. Definitely room for improvement on that front.
We finished the night with a super cute churro cart which was as fun as it was delicious.
Altogether, a great Mexican restaurant with a fantastic menu, great flavors, and beautiful and delicious drinks. We will definitely be going back, highly recommend you pay them a visit as well!
Of course we paid our bill and went on our way, but we will never live down the fact that we paid almost $30 for a drink when our meals were each about $18. The food was fine but not good enough for us to go again. As if the egregiously priced drinks weren’t enough to keep us away.
Pros: The food was good and plentiful. I had the Texas Burrito and my husband had the Pina Loca, which came in half a pineapple. We both were more than full when we left.
Cons: it was very busy and noisy, so it wasn’t easy to converse across the table. They have clearly put as many tables in the building as they can, so there isn’t much room between them. Instead of getting warm, thin chips, they were cold and indistinguishable from chips from a bag. The hostess neglected to give us tableware and we had to ask for some from a passing waiter after our food was delivered. My husband’s 32 oz. beer was $12, and my skinny margarita was $18.50! No wonder they don’t have prices next to the drinks on the menu.
With tip, the two of us spent almost $100 for a meal out. A little more than I care to spend for a regular dinner out, but not awful for an occasional special dinner.
The table next to us got the churro dessert and it was a cute setup.
