We visited La Bella Vita with a party of 6 to celebrate a birthday in late October. At that time, it was one of the few fine dining restaurants in the area that was still open.

Stepping into the restaurant felt like stepping back in time to the Victorian era, with the decor, clientele, and staff all contributing to what it must have been like in that time period, you’ll see what I mean should you ever visit.

For dinner, our table started with, grilled octopus, lobster and shrimp scampi, and Sardinia style clams which were all tasty, with the clams being a bit spicy which I liked.

For our entrees we had lobster ravioli, the pappardelle short rib, chicken piccata, clams and shrimp, veal chops, all of which we liked. Only the clams and shrimp was described as a bit dry and lacking flavor.

If you’re a fan of fine dining, I recommend La Bella Vita. The service, food, and atmosphere were generally good. The taste of food can be very subjective, as some prefer more muted flavors, whereas I prefer well seasoned, bold contrasting flavors I would say the flavors were generally muted but still tasty and I believe it’s inline with the clientele.

With all that being said, I liked the restaurant and I would visit again. I had asked my table to take photos, most of us were too busy eating, but we did get shots of a few dishes.

I made a reservation at La Bella Vita over a month ago and told them it was a special occasion (“big” birthday) for my wife. We were not staying at the Sagamore, so it cost us $20 to self park, which was a surprise. I requested a table on the balcony, with an unobstructed view of the lake. When we got there they had the reservation, but asked us “inside or outside”, then gave us a table in the “second row”. Luckily, a few minutes later, a table opened up and we asked if we could move, which we did. Lastly on the subject of service, our waitress seemed to want to rush us out of there. She wanted our whole order up front (which we declined to do) and then asked twice while we were eating if we were “still working on it” or if we wanted to-go boxes. She could have used her time better by refilling our water. The food was as expected (good) for an upscale restaurant. Portions were on the large side, so if you’re a big eater you shouldn’t leave hungry. I was surprised by the number of kids there, which removed any sort of romantic atmosphere. At no point during the evening did they make mention of my wife’s birthday. Disappointing!

Relaxing Breakfast Spot with Lake Views

This charming little spot made for a relaxing breakfast with beautiful views overlooking the lake. We were seated right away—likely thanks to visiting in the off-season (April)—and Colin, our server, was friendly and attentive throughout.

The food hit the spot: the avocado toast with poached eggs was fresh and flavorful, the meat lover’s omelette was hearty, and the blueberry pancakes were light, fluffy, and delicious. Pricing was very reasonable, especially for the location and quality of the meal.

While it wasn’t a five-star culinary experience, it was still a great place to enjoy a casual breakfast—especially considering the limited options in the area. A solid pre-hike stop or a peaceful start to your day.

10 out of 10 from beginning to end. We were seated immediately and our waiter took care of us from that moment on. We started with deliciously crafted cocktails. The menu had gourmet offerings from appetizers through dessert. Everything was prepared to perfection and beautifully plated. The Sea bass was the lone special of the evening, which we both ordered. It was cooked as only sea bass should be cooked and was served over a black rice risotto that had lovely pieces of lobster. I went with the waiter’s suggestion of the pistachio pumpkin cheesecake. So incredible and I’ll be enjoying the leftovers with my coffee tomorrow! The timing of all courses was on point. This review could go on and on so I’ll stop here. Please enjoy the pictures from a perfect dinner!

Are here for breakfast and dinner while staying at the resort. Breakfast offers a la carte or an extensive buffet with plenty of options including Eggs Benedict, made to order omelettes, etc… Dinner was a treat. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

I celebrated my 40th birthday in classic style – having breakfast at the esteemed Sagamore Resort. When hubby tried calling for reservations, we didn’t realize that seating was first come, first serve basis, so we decided to get an early start and arrive just at opening at 8:30AM.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly, and asked if we wanted to sit outside overlooking the lake, or inside, and we of course said outside. We had prime seating on the terrace and enjoyed the lush greenery and the lake waking up. There was a comfortable breeze that made the whole experience top notch. Our waiter, Fabian, was super sweet, friendly, and full of smiles. We decided to do the al a carte option as opposed to the buffet, even though many of the other patrons who were staying at the Sagamore did do this. I had my heart set on the thick cut stuffed French toast, because it’s fancy and I’m 40 now so why not – while hubby got their lobster eggs benedict. The food came out beautiful and was just as delicious! My french toast was piled high with berries and powdered sugar, and hubby’s eggs came with rosemary roasted potatoes. We cleaned out our plates happily.

Great meal, great prices, great staff
Jul 2024

Wonderful meal! The staff was delightful and the food was excellent with very reasonable prices.

Book to sit outside for a breathtaking view of lake George. We were treated to a massive storm that rolled in making the dinner one to remember for the family for years to come.

Wanted to mention my lobster ravioli was loaded with fresh lobster and was very tasty with fancy mushrooms and other treats. This dish was priced in the 40 dollar range which was amazing because down the road at beyond the sea they charged over 60 for a smaller version of this dish.

The power went out from the storm but the staff was very professional and still turned out the dishes perfectly .

We really enjoyed our meal and Would highly recommend ❤️❤️❤️

It looked nice, the views were pleasant, the food was average while being pricey.

It is convenient if you are staying at or visiting the resort and wanted something to dress up for.

The appetizers were generally better than the entrees.

I personally enjoyed the chicken saltimbocca and the short rib. The fillet duo was ok. I heard that the lobster tail was not good so maybe stay away from that.

The pizza is really not their specialty and I honestly didn’t enjoy it much at all.

All in all, go for the atmosphere and convenience but dont hope for the best meal of your life.
