The Portillo’s on Addison Street never disappoints! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by that classic Portillo’s energy: bustling, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The staff here work like a well-oiled machine, moving quickly through lines while still making you feel taken care of.
Of course, the Italian beef is phenomenal. I got mine dipped with hot peppers, and it was perfection: tender, juicy beef piled high on a perfectly steamed bun that somehow holds together despite being gloriously messy. The seasoning is spot-on, and that giardiniera adds just the right kick.
But don’t sleep on the other menu items! The Chicago-style hot dog is textbook perfect with all the fixings, and those crinkle-cut fries are addictive. I always save room for a chocolate cake shake, so rich, indulgent, and the perfect way to end the meal.
The location is convenient with decent parking, and the dining room is kept clean despite the constant flow of customers. Whether you’re a Chicago native or just visiting, this Portillo’s delivers that authentic Chicago experience every single time. It’s comfort food done right, and I keep coming back for more!

I ordered thru Uber eats but my order receipt that arrived was from Doordash. So wrong order arrived. Please double check before handing to the delivery driver.
The delivery driver pick up the right portillos bag my name was attached outside the bag but when I open the bag was they put a wrong order inside it. Please double check the name of the order before placing the food inside. I know mistakes happenned. The maxwell hotdog was overcooked & chewy. I was craving for burger & chocolate cake ended eating maxwell hotdog and cold fries.

I live in Portland, Oregon and have been ordering 2 Day Air food shipments from Portillo’s for many years. Being born on the NW side of Chicago, I recall the amazing tiny Italian Beef shops my parents used to take me to when I was a kid. The craving continues and Portillo’s delivers excellent Italian Beef and Chicago Dog kits for making these delicious favorites at home.
One time I had a Portillo’s Chicago Dog kit delivered to a small island, that takes a ferry ride to get to, for a Thanksgiving vacation in the San Juan Islands in Washington. Somehow it still arrived in just 2 days and the dry ice kept the kit cold. Amazing! And so good!
The price is getting up there but if you have the craving, these guys ship a delicious, authentic Chicago food kit. And I think buying direct from the Portillo’s ship site is the best deal (compared to other Chicago food sites). Highly recommended!!

This was such a fun experience to get a Chicago dog. Their chocolate cake is so spongy and moist. Its definitely a must. They also sell alcohol. I also heard they have a chocolate shake that has a full slice of cake in it. So worth it.

This place is beyond enraging & pathetic. This is the third/fourth time that I order a simple plain chicken sandwich or fish sandwich and I get half a gallon of mayo/tartar sauce. Having food delivered and to see someone just being plain ignorant w/my food?! Let that person go feed their mother, they don’t belong in food service. And for the manager: this type behavior will cause you to lose customers, don’t offer a new sandwich cause the last thing I’d ever eat is here. Not even sure why my hubby woke me up for this but now I’m mad.

This place is a well oiled machine. I always sit inside because I love their nostalgic decor. I got a #4 spicy chicken combo this time. The employees are always pleasant though their speed doesn’t really allow them to be friendly. They didn’t charge extra for a container of the honey peppercorn dressing that I like to add to my sandwich. The food is always fresh and hot. I got the deal of a $1 slice of their seasonal Salted Caramel Spice cake to my entree. It was a perfect intro to September. As usual I’ll be back.

Try the Como if you’ve never had one before.
My go-to sandwich here is the Italian beef, wet with sweet and hot peppers, and mozzarella cheese.
The one con – I am convinced that no matter what location we visit and no matter how hard I ask (plead) the staff to serve my beef with the mozzarella melted; they refuse to do it.
I’ve attempt to pay them for a well done melted cheese beef to no avail. It’s a bummer, I love their food but I want it served Rosati’s style, toasted and melted and actually piping hot.
