Tried this place for dinner and the food was really good! For starters, we had the Bowlani and Mantoo—both perfect for sharing between two. For mains, we tried the chicken kabab, chicken shammi, and beef shammi along with Kabuli pulau. The chicken shammi was definitely the star—soft, succulent, and full of flavor. The beef shammi was a bit dry and tough, but overall the dishes were enjoyable. Ended the meal with rice pudding, which was the perfect finish.

The ambience, however, felt a little dated and dimly lit, and the dining area was empty when we visited, making the experience very quiet. Not sure if it gets livelier on weekends, but I’d definitely return for the food!

Well-established.
They know what they’re doing, the wait staff is on point and attentive. The drinks and cocktails are good. Service is incredible.

Dishes are sort of hit or miss though. A few things off the menu were stellar but a few things are very toned down in terms of seasoning and spice. maybe to accommodate the local palette.
Kebabs are hard to do well. Like many kebab places things like chicken and beef cuts tend to be overcooked and sort of hard.

Overall, it’s a great place to go for a group dinner because of the vibe, great service, and decent food priced well for that area. But there are a lot of other stand-out Middle Eastern restaurants in Connecticut that focus more on the flavor.

It was quite a disappointment that a 40 years old restaurant is not serving delicious afghani food. (There was no option of zero star for food)
Lamb kebabs were dry and chewy, chicken kebabs were not marinated properly and beef kebabs were just ok.
Kabli rice was definitely not tasty and spinach was not eatable.
The only thing i liked is the alfresco dining.

I came here on a Tuesday evening for a happy hour with some coworkers. I was able to find parking pretty easily on the street outside with a short walk. The inside is very cool with nice decoration and a large bar. The happy hour runs from 3pm-7pm and comes with a large drink set and a appetizers. Martinis are as little as $5! Our server was very friendly and the food delicious. I recommend a visit, especially for happy hour.

I came on a Friday night and the bouncers were racist to my friends and I. They kicked us out and treated us poorly, they called us derogatory names and I’m from west Hartford and have never experienced this type of racism my entire life. Beware of coming to this location , it’s disgusting behavior.

Tried their Chicken platter which was totally bland. Chicken pieces and spinach rice had no taste. Not enough falafel as per the price. Drinks were good though. I don’t think I will go back there. Spent 80$ which wasn’t worth it.

This was my time trying Afghanistan cuisine. The place is lovely! Decor is beautiful , with rugs and beautiful paintings- it was very palatial . To my surprise, they had a great bar- cocktail was amazing! I had pomegranate martini !
Food was so good. Hummus was smooth and creamy! Falafel wrap was served with housemade sauce ( probably green Chilli)- it was delicious. Chicken kabab was juicy and well cooked as per my husband. Eggplant and pumpkin side was so fresh! They also serve Turkish coffee.. we ended our meal with that! Would come back again and definitely recommend! How did I forget to mention potato pawkawra- that was the star!

We were 8 of us on Saturday and came here for dinner. Beautifully decorated place with ample space for couples as well as large groups and families. Service was very friendly and attentive. Overall place was very clean although bathrooms a tad old.

Between the 8 of us we shared:

Appetizers:
– Mantoo
– Bowlani
– Pakawra

All great taste though too little to be shared.

Mains:
– Veg dinner with different combinations so we got to try spinach, mushrooms, eggplant, potato and pumpkin. All veggies were really good.
– Kabuli Palow with lamb and pumpkin. This was good but tad expensive for my opinion. I didn’t quite enjoy the lamb though my husband liked it.
– Chicken kebab with choice of rice and spinach. This was really good. Loved the chicken.

Food overall was good and quite light. The baklava was a mistake at the end. Dry and no taste. That was quite sad 🙁

But overall, good experience in a large group. Place was packed after 7pm.
