So I live in Metuchen for over 3 years and I always drive by and go to Mia garden but boy was I wrong this place is definitely the best spot to eat. Better than Mia garden better than pink lotus. I recommend the steam pork dumpling and the general tao chicken it actually tastes spicy and the house fried rice with chicken.

After spending $70.00 on dinner and asking for extra duck sauce and receiving only 2, I’ve determined that this restaurant does NOT care about their customers one bit. When confronted they’re excuse is, why didn’t I ask for extra? You’re kidding right?? Cheap owners of this place that’s all I can say. Sesame chicken was practically all broccoli and minimal chicken. Total ripoff with no explanation from the owner
You lost a long term customer. Not worth the aggravation here anymore !!!

They have lunch specials until 3:30 for around $10 that includes tea, fried dough appetizer, soup, and good-sized entree. Best beef with string beans I ever had!

Delicious food, good friendly service for $21 for 2 people, tax included. Can’t beat it.

Highly recommended!

Food was great, not too oily and was fresh – portions were generous for the price. Had lunch special – lomein, shrimp in garlic sauce and Salmon. Ambience (the entrance) and service was average but not bad! Will go back again for the good food.

I paid my check for a lunch special of $10.40 with $15 cash.
Given it was lunch time and the waitresses were seemingly busy serving others, I waited for a good 10 minutes to get change back.

It occurred to me that she perhaps was not intending to return any back. So I signaled a friendly ‘please give the check’ gesture..
She goes loudly “Oh, you need change back? How much do you need back?”
I replied that it was rude for her to even ask the question when I have just paid the check, and that she just lost a customer.

She did not ask if I needed change back while taking my check, so it is pertinent that she return the change. I definitely was going to leave at least a 20% tip, likely more, but not the remaining 45%!

I understand that running a business in this economy is a challenge, but restaurants like these are not doing themselves any favors by using underhanded tactics to make a few more dollars.

To the restaurant owner (who was also likely the waitress) – your food was good, but I left with a bad taste because of the foul experience you meted out.

Meemah offers a mix of Chinese and Malaysian food. Our favorites include the spicy pork and shrimp dumplings with peanut sauce, crispy Sesame Prawns and the Sauteed string beans. They offer both dine in or take out.

Their specials are usually quite good. Been a favorite of ours for over 25 years. In that time ownership has changed.

There is plenty of free parking available.

I found the food to be enjoyable. Not great, but good enough to want to try more. Service is somewhat disconnected/lukewarm and I really didn’t have the impression that I was welcomed, makes me not want to come back. A mixed bag, like most things in life.

First time here and it was actually recommended by a sweet old lady I was speaking to on a train ride back from NYC. I bookmarked it and made sure that I would visit since it’s not far from where I live and where I usually hang out.

Walked in on a Thursday night and while the dining room wasn’t busy, there were quite a few people waiting for their takeout orders. Dining room was clean and and well-kept and since it only had a couple of occupied tables, it was quiet. I’d imagine this place gets packed with patrons during lunch considering Metropark is within a half mile and is probably busy Friday nights too.

I grabbed a takeout menu and briefly looked it over. I noticed there were no dinner combo specials and decided to double-check with the host and see if there was an incremental charge to make the lunch combo a dinner combo. Host said they do not offer dinner combos and I would have to order a quart of what I wanted. No biggie.

Since I haven’t had Chinese food in a while, I was craving some chicken and broccoli with white rice (I usually go with the brown but wanted some Jasmine rice), and fried/steamed chicken dumplings, which they had.

Man what a great dinner! The chicken and broccoli was cooked perfectly and was still hot by the time I got home. I laid it on top of the steamed rice and enjoyed every bite. I finished the entire quart in one sitting including the steamed chicken dumplings. The chicken and broccoli was TOTALLY worth it but to be honest, I was hoping the dumplings were going to be the bigger versions stuffed with chicken. The cost of those dumplings didn’t really add up and I felt like they were the wholesale club version.

All-in-all I will definitely return for takeout!

The venue looks nice and clean.

I don’t like that the complimentary crunchy, oily appetizer with duck sauce dips are already laid out on every table ahead of time but they likely do it to be efficient.

Hot tea was served quickly and complimentary.

Beef satay was tender with 5 small skewers with a peanut based sauce. It was good. The peanut saice was not as peanutty however, not good nor bad, but just different.

Salmon w/ scallions was breaded. I wasn’t expecting the breading, but it was good. Underneath the breading was real salmon that was cooked to the correct temp. Portion was adequate to good.

Service was quick but felt a bit militaristic.

Overall value (especially if you come and order through their lunch specials 12-3 Monday-Saturday) and experience was good and would come again to try their other dishes.

I was soooooo excited to eat some delicious dumplings – pork dumplings were great and absolutely loved the sesame wontons!! Beef chow fun was excellent, really enjoyed the thick noodles. The chicken and garlic came with tons of veggies, and can’t go wrong with sautéed green beans. The chicken Pad Thai was delicious, a sizable portion that will last us two meals. Everything was great! Seasoned perfectly, flavorful and not overly salty, very delicious!
