The samosas very oily, we were not able to finish them. The tandoori chicken was the best dish we had. It was served on a sizzling hot platter and the meat was delicious. The butter chicken left much to be desired. It tasted more like a tomato sauce than any butter chicken I have had. They brought out the wrong naan and by the time they brought us the correct one, we were halfway done with our meal. We also requested medium for all of our dishes and they had no spice at all. Rice is an extra charge here as well which disappointed me, as the dishes are already pricy.
I’ve been living in Chicago for more than 10 years, and I have never had such a bad dining experience. The food at this restaurant was extremely disappointing and honestly felt unsafe to eat.
I started with samosas, which were stale, oily, and had a bad smell. They were not crisp at all—more like puri stuffed with poorly made potato bhaji. I immediately returned them and informed the manager. Even they agreed something was wrong and apologized.
Then we received our main course—within just 5 minutes, which already felt suspicious.
I had ordered:
• Chicken Biryani
• Paneer Butter Masala
• Naan
• Mango Lassi
The chicken biryani was cold, clearly not reheated properly.
The paneer butter masala was too oily, overly spicy, and lacked any real flavor.
The naan was thick, undercooked, and tasted like half-cooked white flour.
Overall, the entire meal felt stale, rushed, and not prepared with basic hygiene. The food was so bad that we tasted only a single bite and then left both the food and the restaurant.
This is my genuine experience—if you value your health and don’t want to waste your money, I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant.
It was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Chicago.
We were a group of six and called around 9:15 PM to check if we could arrive by 9:30 PM, and they kindly agreed. When we arrived, the host remembered our call and welcomed us very gracefully, which immediately made us feel valued.
A special mention to Meera, who served us that evening—she truly made our experience memorable. Her dish recommendations were spot on: Paneer Bhurji, Kadai Paneer, and Dal Tadka—each dish was outstanding in taste and quality. She also suggested kulfi; we initially ordered fewer portions, but after tasting them, we wished we had ordered more. Both mango and kesar kulfi were absolutely delicious.
Overall, it was an excellent dining experience—amazing food, a welcoming host, and heartfelt service from Meera, whose suggestions completely satisfied our taste buds. Highly recommended!
Above all, the service provided by the F&B staff was outstanding.
Special thanks to Karanti, an amazing service professional who delivered truly extraordinary hospitality.
Her attentiveness and warmth made the experience even more memorable.
What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. The staff was so friendly and made sure everything was perfect without hovering. It felt like they genuinely cared about making sure I had a good time. If you’re looking for some great Indian food and great service, I definitely recommend giving Maharj Indian Grill a try!
