Fabulous, the best fried oysters I’ve ever had, these were perfect size, great coating and cooked to perfection. Service was great and friendly. Fried green tomatoes were a treat with pimento topping. Sides on the oyster platter were very tasty. We had the house porter and enjoyed it immensely. The views were relaxing. This place was well worth the trip to South Carolina and can’t wait to return. PS don’t forget to leave your mark

On a recommendation from my barber, I checked this place out. Definitely low key, with a rough unpaved road to get to it. Wanted some raw oysters, but they unfortunately we out this day. Got the crab dip for starters. Very good with real crab. I ordered the seafood platter with a side of fried oysters. The shrimp were done perfectly. They were a medium to large size and tasty. The flounder was excellent and moist. The crab cakes were flavorful with more crab than stuffing. I’m not a hush puppy guy, but these were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. I really enjoyed their slaw. All in all I’ll be back, just have to call to verify the availability of raw oysters.

Come here if you want fresh, authentic-south Carolina caught seafood! The atmosphere is unmatched and the food, while pricey, is well worth it. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The frogmore stew had so much shrimp in it!! The shrimp and grits was so savory and rich. And the hushpuppies are a must!

A hidden gem! If there’s a long line, grab a beer and enjoy the views! Absolutely everything is delicious. The best fried seafood I’ve ever had (I’m not big on fried food). The fried shrimp and fish are amazing. The crab dip is fantastic. Crab cakes are huge and tasty. Can’t beat washing it down with a cold beer or cocktail, all perfect with the open air, marshy beach vibe. Beautiful location with 360 views, open and low key atmosphere. Enjoy the breeze while you wait for your food. Can’t recommend enough!

I came in at 2 PM on a Saturday in December expecting a quick meal, but the line at the register wasn’t moving at all. The management seems to be severely understaffed; one man was trying to act as the cashier, the bartender, and the server at the bar so he switched back and fort at the register and the bar.
What really ruined the experience was the lack of hygiene. I watched the staff member touch various surfaces, then use his bare hands to make drinks , push straws down into cups by the tip. One guy at the bar used his bare hands to pick up fruit garnishes for mixed drinks.
While the food and flavors are actually decent, I completely lost my appetite after watching the order line. It’s hard to enjoy a meal when basic food safety is ignored. I would only consider coming back if they hire more help and improve their sanitation standards.

Overall great experience. The staff was nice. I got the fish and shrimp platter. It was delicious and lightly battered. My husband got the seafood platter with 2 crab cakes, shrimp, and fish. My favorite was the fish, it was the best tender melt in your mouth flounder I ever tasted.

Party of 13 at Bowen’s. They treated us so well & put us all in the bar area where the oyster bar was, by ourselves. We were not charged extra. Great views of sunset outside & our food was solid. Extra points for being able to graffiti the area we sat in.

We waited 45 minutes for our food. The view however is beautiful. We had the fish plater, the fish could have a little more seasoning, fries were really good. We spent $110/ tip for 3 people with drinks, soda tea and beer.

I was afraid to check it out after reading the negative reviews but I am glad I did. It was busy, waited in line to order and food took a little longer than I would have expected. Oysters on the half shell were great. Shrimp and grits were tasty. I found a quiet seat in the raw bar with a great view, which might have made it a little harder to find me and my number. Ontario in the raw bar was super friendly and took good care of everyone there.

Awesome place to enjoy a sunset with some fresh oysters and a local beer. Chill vibe with a huge deck overlooking the marsh, you feel miles from any congestion. This picture is from the deck looking over the marsh. Will return again next time I am in the area.
