Always my go-to when I’m visiting Sacre Coeur – the history (since 1793), atmosphere, food and service are always impeccable! Today was no different as we were actually here for breakfast which was delicious. Kevin, our server, was fun, funny and made the total experience even more enjoyable! A definite spot for coffee, a meal or an amazing dessert!

Laura couldn’t have been more attentive and friendly if she tried! She was so accommodating and really encouraging to our children trying to speak the French language. Perfect setting. Amazing food too and the cheese is delicious! Would definitely visit again and hopefully have Laura, she was a favourite to the children! Thank you!

While I cannot comment on the food, as I enjoyed only wine and olives here, I CAN say that this is an amazing place. The experience of sitting outside at this historic location is the stuff that Paris dreams are made of. The location is prime and the energy and authentic atmosphere are almost overwhelming. This is the very neighborhood where many great artists like Renoir and Van Gogh. This restaurant was founded in 1793 during the French Revolution, it is amazing to think of all the history that is contained in these walls on the Place de Tertre. Highly recommend eating here or just having a glass of wine where legends have dined.

La Mère Catherine is one of those places you expect to be purely touristic — and yes, it is busy, with lots of visitors filling the terrace on Place du Tertre. But to my surprise, the experience was genuinely enjoyable. The food was well-prepared and flavorful, classic French dishes served with care. Service was attentive and friendlier than I expected in such a crowded spot, and the lively ambiance gave it a certain charm. Sometimes clichés are true — this touristic brasserie turned out to be a pleasant discovery.

La Mère Catherine is a true gem of Montmartre – a restaurant with soul, tradition, and warmth that’s rare to find in the heart of Paris. The food is exquisite, fresh, and lovingly prepared, while the atmosphere radiates French charm and history.
We especially want to highlight Hassan, an exceptional waiter who is much more than a server – he is a true host. His attention, kindness, and the way he connects with each guest are remarkable. Hassan has a gift for bringing peace, joy, and a sense of belonging through his smile and professionalism. He reminds us that perfection doesn’t come from form, but from the heart.
We warmly recommend this place to anyone wishing to experience genuine Parisian hospitality.

This checked every box. Sat outside to people watch. Ordered the fisherman’s casserole and homemade lasagna to share with French onion soup to start. All were delicious. People watched and had amazing service from Kevin! Highly recommend. Easy 3 minute walk from the main church and views as well. Irish coffee is also very good on a cold day.
