You know you’ve found the best food around when every seat is taken at 10am on a Friday morning. Best s.o.s. I’ve had in the valley. I never had to ask for anything; service was on point. Atmosphere… well it’s the family Thanksgiving party. A bit of loud chaos full of laughter and good food. I enjoyed my time.

The service was pretty fast even when they were packed. The food was pretty average nothing special.
I got the chicken fried steak and there’s nothing worth noting.
The hash-browns were mushy but still okay.

Overall, pretty decent

This restaurant is the epitome of why Utah food is bad, and yet people come here only because there is nothing else open in the early morning and the only comparison is MREs at the military base. The gravy is gross, the signature sauce tastes like something my 8 year old would make in a science experiment, their burger is dry and the French fries weren’t even cooked. Hard as hell. I would pay to never eat here again.

Seriously how can you be in business for so long and not know how to make hash browns or French fries crispy. Word of advice- squeeze the water out of the hash browns before cooking them and they will crisp up. French fries should be blanched and then fried again at the right temperature.

And on top of that – it is all way over priced. I would say that is the greatest injustice of it all. Please, for the love of food, do not eat here. I tasted 5 meals at my table to confirm everything I am saying.

I happened to find this place on a roadtrip a few years ago. The food was amazing and great service. I found myself about 4 hours away recently and decided I had to go back. It added a lot of driving to my trip, but well worth it! There aren’t many places with food and service so good I will actually drive more than four hours extra just to get to. The food was just as good as I remembered. The hot beef sandwich was excellent. I took fritters and scones home to share with my husband. He now understands why I drove so far. Will be back again!

So good the sos sauce is the best. Scones and cinnamon rolls can’t be beat. You feel like you are cared about while you eat breakfast. Been going here for 25 years and still dream about it when I am traveling through Layton.

Everything about this place is great. The only downside is that they are not open Sundays and the wait time is so long on Saturday! The place is a bit small so they can’t seat as many people that come through the door.

From my last experience, the food came out so quick, food was hot, scones were . THEY ARE THAT GOOD!! Service is amazing and they do their best to take care of you.

To be local and not have heard of sills, you must live under a rock. At least that’s how i felt. Famous, and so fricken good! love the little diner, the vibe, the food, and the PRICE. You can get a GOOD, LARGE Breakfast, and not even break $15 per person. Even have leftovers! Is it some gordon ramseys? Of course not, but for what it is, no complaints!

Grew up in Layton and went with my dad to this Cafe in its original location. Been 50 years .
It was awsome hometown feeling great location, away from all the “newest fads” places where you pay for crap with no napkins, and wrong orders.
This place brings back the real meaning of a traditional home cooked, full belly, undo the top button full.I felt like i was at grandma’s house.
THANKS GUYS .

Best mom and pop in Utah.

I came here as a kid. I returned to the state a few years ago and things were ok, but standard diner feelings.

I came back this weekend for Fathers Day and was blown away. The food is great quality, the scones are as great as I remember, and the service was spot on. Well done to the whole team for raising the diner experience-you all nailed it.

It’s a relatively small place, it was very busy for a Wednesday morning, we had a fifteen minute wait for a table. The service was good, our waitress was very friendly. The food was okay. The country fried steak had good flavor but was far from the best I’ve ever had. The pancakes were decent, once again, not the best I’ve had. I felt the eggs were a little lacking, kinda flat, and not really fluffy. The hashebrowns were a little underdone for my tastes, if i came again of order them well done. Overall, it was a decent meal, the rest of my party was happy.
