It’s a simple order–pay–eat setup with a good variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, including different rice dishes, curries, roti, and papad. They even served extra roti & salad when requested.
The place has a nice ambience and is well decorated. It was quite busy during lunch time but there was still plenty of seating indoor and outside. It does have a bar, looks to be more popular in the evenings.
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars for service is that we had to wait around 20 minutes for the haleem. That said, the food was very tasty and worth the wait.
Everything at Chilli India was so fresh, flavorful, and just delicious. The spices were perfect and every dish we tried was amazing. Such a great first experience for him!
We recently visited the Docklands branch and were thrilled to find the exact same level of exceptional service. It’s clear that this isn’t accidental; it is the result of excellent training and management. It is rare to find Indian restaurants that prioritize customer experience and etiquette to this degree. It is a refreshing change from the norm to be served by staff who are present, attentive, and truly care about the customer. A salute to the team for keeping the standards so high!”
You can tell the staff are the unsung heroes of the weekend rush; they were clearly running on fumes after serving what felt like half of Melbourne, so the service was a bit more “slow-motion” than “speed-dating.” It’s not the place for a quick bite or a high-pressure business meeting, but if you’ve got an empty stomach and the patience of a saint, it’s a solid win for an all-you-can-eat marathon. Just don’t expect the staff to do a victory lap for you!
The food was absolutely delicious, rich in authentic Indian and Telugu flavors, and cooked to perfection.
Every bite reminded me of traditional homemade meals, especially the spices and freshness.
The service was exceptional and heartfelt, provided by our own Telugu people, which made the experience even more special.
They were welcoming, respectful, and made sure we were comfortable throughout.
The atmosphere was lively and nostalgic with Telugu songs playing, creating a beautiful cultural vibe.
It felt less like a restaurant and more like a warm Telugu gathering.
Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic food, great service, and a true Telugu ambience.
Will definitely visit again. ❤️✨
But honestly turned out other way as it is not up to the mark here is what I had in detail
Staters-
karivepaku gobi – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ must try nice & flavour full
Pachimirchi kodi kebab- ⭐️⭐️⭐️ very oily
Kadai chicken- ⭐️⭐️⭐️ tasted more like chicken tikka masala
Malai kofta- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️kofta balls tasted very nice
Garlic naan-⭐️⭐️ pls don’t call it naan tasted like some kind of pita bread
Butter naan-⭐️⭐️ same again pls don’t call it as naan
Also the food served as warm in temperature when I approached the waiter about naan bread she just took the same bread on my plate & microwaved….
When the place has a reputation & you are charging for the quality & service as a customer we expect the same not the food to be microwaved pls don’t do that….
I have different experiences from Chilli India Melbourne Central.
Only reason came Chilli India Docklands is due to easy for a car park. Otherwise, I would always Melbourne Central Chilli India.
Docklands Chilli Indian restaurant should change to meet a food quality like Melbourne Central Chilli India.
The staff were friendly and attentive (especially Vinod) and the overall experience felt homely yet refined. If you’re craving an authentic South Indian feast in Melbourne, I’d highly recommend trying the Vindhu Bhojanam at Chilli India it’s a must!
