Tonight’s dinner was at Mi Cancun in Cary at Stone Creek Village. I took my dad out to dinner.
Mains:
Chori Pollo Burrito (mine)
Stuffed with grilled chicken and chorizo, topped with cheese dip. It comes with rice and refried beans.
Carnitas (Dad’s)
Tender pork slowly braised. Served with rice, beans, tortillas, and guacamole salad. He just wanted the rice.
As always, you get chips and salsa when you get seated. I pretty much drink the salsa. The meals were great. There is just something about queso that is just so good. The chorizo is always good and the chicken was still moist. I will always love the rice and beans as well. The pork carnitas were tasty, too! The green salsa was tangy and delicious. I stole some and poured it on my burrito.
This was my first time at this location. The service was great and they were very attentive.

We had heard nice things about this place so wanted to give it a try. We went on a Saturday night without a reservation, not a smart idea at many Triangle restaurants, but no worries, we were immediately sat at a nice spacious table! The table was quite unsteady, which annoys my wife, but not a huge deal. Otherwise, the restaurant space was actually great, much nicer than other options in the area, lots of light.
The menu was pretty simple and well organized, not too many options, which we’ve seen at other Mexican restaurants in the area. We tried the chorizo queso dip, it was awesome… Our family all likes this dip and we probably look like crazy people all going for it at once!
The entrees were very good, better than normal in comparable restaurants. We will be back! My wife and son are tough critics usually, and here they both were totally happy, that says a lot.
My only concern was the drinks, I got two different kinds and didn’t really like either one. I wanted a good margarita, but didn’t find it yet!

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Mi Cancun. I honestly never thought I would walk out of a Mexican restaurant still hungry — but here we are.
The portion sizes were shockingly small. The plate was literally half empty, and for the price, it made no sense. Mexican food is usually generous and filling, but this was neither. The chips were also served cold, which was the first red flag.
Service was just as disappointing. Our server never once came back to check on us — no refills, no “How is everything?”, nothing. We felt completely ignored the entire meal.
When I asked to speak to a manager, the server told me the manager was “out” and wouldn’t be back for three hours — which made no sense because the restaurant would have been closed by then. The way it was said almost felt dismissive, like “what are you going to do about it?”
Ironically, shortly after that, a manager walked in. I explained my concerns, hoping for at least some acknowledgment or accountability. Unfortunately, he couldn’t have cared less. All he said was “okay.” No apology, no attempt to make things right, no ownership of the situation.
After that experience, I told the server I would not be tipping — and I stand by that decision. Tipping reflects service, and there simply was none.
Between the small portions, cold food, inattentive service, and management’s lack of concern, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had. I will not be returning to this location

This is the 3rd location we visited, much smaller location but the dining experience is still top tier. Great friendly host and festive music. During our dine-in they were out of crab legs but offered items of our choosing.

Service was terrible. Gentleman who claimed to be the manager was very rude. We were initially told that this restaurant served drinks that had dry ice, and the ambience was I’ve. When we asked about it, they responded harshly that we were not at the right location, The location was “around the corner” as stated by him and the only female server. They seemed as if they did not want to attend to us. The atmosphere and aura was so bad I got sick to my stomach and lost my appetite. I was still obligated to pay for my food even after leaving the table and going to my car while my family ate their food (which they did not like). Very disappointing dinner on vacation. Do not recommend this location

Mi Cancun is the real deal! From the moment you step inside, you’re transported straight to Mexico. The atmosphere is spot-on, vibrant, lively, and full of those nostalgic vacation vibes, reminding me of family trips down south. But it’s not just the ambiance that stands out; the food and drinks are equally as authentic.
Let’s talk tacos, absolutely fantastic! I had the chance to try a few different ones, and each bite was better than the last. The shrimp and chorizo combo was a standout for me, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The asada tacos were on point as well, tender, juicy, and packed with that savory punch you’d expect from an authentic Mexican taqueria. I’m already looking forward to trying the fish tacos next!

Food: The food was so good that I didn’t even get a chance to take a pic. Fresh, hot and tasty. The chips and cheese perfection. The at the table guacamole was sensation.

The chips, salsa, guacamole are so awesome this restaurant. The kids loved the chicken quesadilla and lemonades and none left. I felt the portion was less for the $. The service was fantastic and kind. The draft beers looked so chill and every table had one except ours. I did I am writing this review after my first visit and my opinion can change as I try more dishes. Definitely a must try and nice place to hangout for sure with family or friends or loved ones. Adios!

This was our first time here! We are big foodies and this place was awesome. The food was so good and authentic. The service was 5 stars all the way. They really cared about us and made sure we were happy. The margaritas were some of the best I’ve ever had. Don’t think about it just go! You will be happy you did. Your belly will thank you. We will be back for sure. Make sure to get the guacamole which is made table side. It was delicious!
