Old country atmosphere. Service was above par. Food was excellent. (I had the vegetable plate, my husband chose chicken livers. He said they were some of the best chicken livers he had ever had!). When we visited, it was crowded (lunchtime) but had no problem being seated and was taken care of right away.

Well restaurant owned by family unfortunately Doug has passed as a matter of fact the local bridge was renamed in his honor. The restaurant has been sold the new owners promise to keep the charm and the menu the same. But they’re going to do a major remodel of the entire place and fix the parking lot.

Doug’s tastes like a home cooked meal. It’s the kind of place that you go to eat food your southern grandma used to make. It’s not elegant or posh. It’s not chef doctored. It’s not excellent it’s just good. And it’s consistent. My favorites after all these decades of going there is probably still fried chicken, turnips and creamed corn but sweet potato soufflé is pretty great. The various offerings come in little cafe style bowls. I think this is a perfect spot for someone missing the comfort of home cooking or just curious what a traditional southern meal might have tasted like! It’s close to Red Top Mountain-a wonderful place to spend the day! And very close to Cartersville, Ga. Which is one of my favorite cities to visit for the historic downtown eateries, wine bar and Booth Western Art Museum-that is world class!

1st time visiting. If you’re looking for traditional southern cooking this place is for you. One of our group members had the fried chicken livers and said they were in the top 2 that she’s ever had. For those of you trying to eat a little healthier they also have salad. Service was great!

Great little restaurant. My son was playing in a basketball tournament at Lakepoint and we were looking for something to eat that was not fast food. We will be back for sure. Luckily my parents live in the ATL. so we will driving by to eat here again. Everything is home made and brings back memories of mt grandmother’s cooking.

Had a lovely Sunday brunch at Doug’s place. We arrived at 11:30, didn’t wait at all, and after we placed our order, the food arrived in 5-7 minutes. Impeccable service and really lovely people. Will definitely return!
