I walked in for Restaurant Week expecting a casual meal. What I got felt like watching the 2025 Notre Dame Fighting Irish run out of the tunnel in South Bend while “Shipping Up to Boston” played at full volume in my soul.
We started with a Caesar salad. This wasn’t your sad, limp, gas station Caesar. No. This was a Benjamin Morrison pick-six Caesar. Crisp. Bold. Electric. The croutons had the crunch of a linebacker hitting gap A. The dressing? Creamy like Sam Hartman’s hair in a light breeze.
Then came the Pinot — smooth, classy, and frankly more composed than any Ohio State secondary I’ve ever seen. I took a sip and instantly felt like Jordan Faison juking three defenders and moonwalking into the end zone.
The fried deviled eggs arrived next, and I swear these little golden orbs were engineered in a lab by Marcus Freeman himself. Crunchy on the outside, heavenly on the inside. If JD Bertrand had a culinary cousin, this was him: tough exterior, soft heart.
Then the ahi tuna hit the table. Oh, baby. This wasn’t tuna. This was a 70-yard bomb to Jaden Greathouse in primetime. Silky, seared perfection with that “we’re not here to play, we’re here to dominate” energy.
The salmon followed, and it came with the same quiet, confident swagger as Audric Estimé lowering his shoulder into a terrified safety. Moist (yeah, I said it), buttery, and seasoned like it knew it was better than everyone else.
And then… the gnocchi. Or as I now call it: “Notre Dame O-Line pasta.” Pillowy. Fluffy. Melts in your mouth like Joe Alt blocks melt opposing defensive lines. If the O-line had a carb-based spirit animal, this was it.
By the end, I wasn’t just full. I was converted. I was ready to paint my chest gold, storm the field, and petition to make 174 Buffalo the official post-game meal of the Fighting Irish.
In short:
️ Caesar salad – Benjamin Morrison pick-six energy
Pinot – Jordan Faison footwork in a glass
Deviled eggs – JD Bertrand with a golden crust
Tuna – Jaden Greathouse highlight reel
Salmon – Audric Estimé trucking your taste buds
Gnocchi – Joe Alt pancake block in pasta form
If excellence had an address, it’s 174 Buffalo.
This Wednesday, I didn’t 69. I 174’d.
And like Notre Dame in 2025, I left undefeated.
The ambience here is something you have to experience for yourself, but it was so warm and inviting, they outdid themselves with the decor and lighting scheme…no joke we talked about it for the rest of the night.
The cocktails were beautiful and delicious, and there was a broad selection of unique combinations of fruits, vegetables and herbs. You absolutely MUST try the cucumber drink, we will be making those at home in the coming weeks.
Now the food – I will quote another member of my party: “I think that was the best porkchop I have ever had in my life.” As for myself, I have never tasted anything similar to the tofu I had here, and it was just so tasty and unique. The kimchi flavor made me do something I’ve never done before in my life – I went home and ate every last bite of my leftovers that same night!
The presentation of these dishes speak for themselves. It’s been an ongoing and affirming discussion between us regarding how gorgeous these dishes were before they were picked clean. Emphatic compliments to the chef.
I have been here both with a group of couples and with my husband and kids, and it works well for all of it. The cocktails are well done, there are plenty of appetizers to share, and it is genuinely hard to decide what to order because everything on the menu is delicious. I always enjoy my time here and look forward to coming back.
