When Susie and Darrell DeRouen opened Darrell’s in 1985 and started serving sandwiches, they had no idea the bar would turn into a restaurant that’s now a favorite in the area. After testing numerous recipes and finding the sandwiches that made our taste buds sing, we began to include food as well as drinks. Three moves later, and a second location opening in Jennings, Darrell’s is still family owned and operated. We offer a variety of po-boys, chips and drinks that include surf and turf, Darrell’s Special and BBQ brisket. When you want to enjoy a drink after a long day at work or a place in Lake Charles to sit down with family and friends, choose Darrell’s in Louisiana.

First time at this local place i ordered the shrimp po’boy.
The shrimp were disgusting, the shrimp weren’t deveined. I asked for a turkey replacement, they told me they would have to charge me for the shrimp po’boy that i didnt eat and also the turkey sandwich as well. So i paid for a sandwich that i didn’t eat at all. Poor customer service, i will never come here again and I will never recommend this to anyone.

Been coming to Darrell’s for over 20 years. Shrimp PoBoy now has less shrimp (use to be loaded with shrimp that would fall out) with excessive mayo. Roll was good, but that’s about it. Very disappointing. Not worth making the extra effort (I drove from out of town) for this once exceptional sandwich (why pay more for less).
Was ordering PoBoy to go and told to order it at the bar. The person who took the order was RUDE, pushy and she had an attitude. That equated to a big fat ZERO of a tip.
Don’t waste your time ordering a Shrimp PoBoy from Darrell’s…they’ve lost the recipe.

We drove 2 hours from Houston for some good shrimp po-boys. Man… I tell y’all. The shrimp boy and the roast beef po-boys did not disappoint. The young lady that served us did a great job.

Great place to dine. We ALWAYS stop in on our visits to Lake Charles! Everything is always fresh amd delicious! They have several tvs around so you can catch whatever games are playing. They have always been packed when we come so that says alot already! Everyone is very friendly. They do have a nice bar area as well. Great for hangouts!

We came here thinking this place was known for its food. The poboys are very good but this is a sports bar. If you don’t mind college guys yelling at the bar homophobic comments while you’re eating then this place is fine. I recommend the spicy sausage poboy. I wish they would offer homemade sides instead of bagged chips. At least offer made in Louisiana chips like Zapps.

Unfollow I found hair in the roast beef only. So strange cause I ordered brisket!
I first pulled 1 long blonde hair out, and said it’s ok it’s natural, then I found another, so I sent the sandwich back. The waitress bless her heart comped me for the sandwich, but I was confused why the restaurant was so highly recommended. It must have gone downhill.

Alright. Here’s one to keep on your map and radar! Darrell’s is awesome. The special was outstanding and will leave a memory!! If you haven’t been here you need to go! I’m betting the locals frequent this place. Give it a try!! Sorry. I wish I would’ve got an image of the sandwich for you. Btw, the service was as exceptional as the food! I will return when I’m back in town.
