Long day of travel with fast food stops. We landed in valentine to stay over night. We’ve eaten at the bunkhouse a handful of times. We chose to eat there again because they had salads on the menu – only restaurant in town that had salads on the menu. The fiesta salad with steak was delicious!! We will be back! And the service was on par with timing of food and check.

After driving several hours across northern Nebraska, we stopped for fuel and asked the woman at the gas station where we could get breakfast. It was almost 11am. She pointed across the street to an unassuming building. It did not disappoint . Diane, our hostess and server was super friendly. The food came out quickly and was delicious.
The atmosphere only got 3 stars, a plain building that was very basic.
The food and service more than made up for the lack of atmosphere.

This place has friendly staff and patrons. The atmosphere is relaxed and kind. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. I’m a Texan and would come here again if I stop in Valentine. Thank y’all for the great service!

Quiet relaxing atmosphere. Got the Hot Beef Sandwich, and omg! I definitely recommend that. The gravy is delicious, and poured all over the sandwich with yummy mashed potatoes to go with it – really hit the spot. My server Diane, was sweet and very attentive; excellent service.

Amazing. Food, staff, cleanliness, menu options. I’m glad this place gets a little more attention after the other place finally went belly up! What an amazing Valentine staple after all these years. Youngs changed hands , wards took over corner market, the theaters gone, the edge of town out by thatcher is all built up and different, but this place, scotties, and IGA are pretty much the same. In town for golf or to see the Niobrara center before it closes??? Go see these guys and have a good steak. Tell em a Valentine native sent ya.
