I had a wonderful dining experience at Laos in Town. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, blending modern touches with Southeast Asian character in a way that feels both vibrant and comfortable. The food was outstanding — especially the Crispy Rice Salad and the Laab. The flavors were layered and authentic, with fresh herbs and balanced spice that made every bite memorable.
The service truly elevated the experience. Our server, Pak, was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. She took the time to explain the dishes and offered thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, the environment, cuisine, and service were all exceptional, and I would absolutely return and recommend this restaurant to others.

The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, with a clean and relaxing environment that makes dining very enjoyable. The food was delicious, well-presented, and full of flavor — definitely worth trying if you’re looking for a great meal. I especially want to compliment our server, Pak, who was incredibly friendly and attentive; the service was warm, professional, and made our experience even better. Overall, this is a place I would happily recommend and come back to again.

PAK is our server, perfect service! This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I was very impressed. The interior is really fancy and stylish, creating a great atmosphere that’s perfect for a date or a nice dinner with friends.
The food was outstanding. I especially loved the sweet-and-sour and mildly spicy flavors, which were very well balanced and suited my taste perfectly. Every dish we tried was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented.
Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. I would definitely come back again and would love to bring more friends next time. Highly recommended!

Laos In Town offers a spacious and inviting setting with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, making it a comfortable spot for groups or a casual evening out. The overall experience was quite enjoyable, friendly service, a vibrant atmosphere, and a good variety on the menu.
In terms of the food, while it was good, I’ve had stronger culinary experiences at other Laotian restaurants. The highlights for me were the papaya salad, which was fresh and flavorful, and the beef dish, which was nicely seasoned. However, the Laab Moo didn’t quite meet expectations in terms of flavor balance.
On the positive side, the dessert selection is impressive and the cocktails are well-crafted, adding a nice touch to the overall dining experience.
A solid choice for anyone looking to enjoy Lao cuisine in a relaxed and spacious environment, even if the dishes didn’t quite reach the heights of some of my past favorites.

Laos food at this place is really delicious! The menu is a bit limited, but everything they offer is done very well. The drinks, pastries, and desserts—especially the sticky rice—are absolutely amazing ✨. On top of that, the service is excellent, super friendly and very fast . Definitely worth trying!

Unfortunately, what really made me sour about this spot was the service.
Food: When it came to our dishes, we weren’t blown away. There was a chive app dish that we LOVED but other than that the food we ate was underwhelming. There are better authentic spots to try!! I was also confused with this calamari dish….60% of it was oniony and we didn’t know what to do with it. It doesn’t make sense that there would be so much garnish when it’s not something someone would eat on its own.
Service: Our waitress was fantastic but there were other support staff that tried unbelievably hard for us to leave. At one point, a random person (I believe the manager?) asked us if we needed boxes. We told her that our waitress was already bringing it but she ran and got us boxes right away in an effort to get us to move quicker. We weren’t ready to leave – we also wanted dessert, but she continuously did things like this/checked in to push us to leave.
Also, 2 hours before officially closing, the restaurant was already starting to clean up. I thought the food was okay but given how we were treated, I wouldn’t go back.
Really disappointing!!!!!

This is the kind of restaurant that should be IMPOSSIBLE to get into. The food is guaranteed to be unlike anything you’ve had. It really stands out among all other southeast Asian restaurants in the DMV. It is distinctly Laotian, and I love that they don’t try to play in to the Asian fusion gimmick.
The service was absolutely perfect. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive, but not overbearing. It was the kind of service you’d expect at a Michelin star restaurant.
The prices were very reasonable. You could easily spend plenty of money between drinks, appetizers, and entrees, but a solo lunch won’t even have to cost you $20.
For how close I live, I’m embarrassed to say I’ve only been twice in the last few months that I’ve been here. But my most recent visit has prompted me to add this to the very top of my list of DC restaurants.

Great friendly, airy spot for well crafted food. The decor is eclectic but not cluttered. A feature is adorned fish traps suspended from the ceiling. Open kitchen and the dining area across is lined with birches. The design and operation both seemed thoughtful and efficient, leaving the overall impression of an establishment that’s well run and never loses focus on the food.
They seem to do a brisk takeout business but the restaurant is very nice with plenty of outdoor seating. Service is great and our server offered recommendations, though we didn’t take them all.
The lamb curry was sublime. Braised and seasoned perfectly, with meat falling off the bone.
The dalgona coffee (pictured) was lovely and not as sweet as the head of velvety foam on top might suggest–never had it before but it turns out it’s also easy enough to reproduce at home.
This was a chance visit during a short trip to DC and a delightful unexpected find.

The service was good and the aesthetic is beautiful, however I found my $100 3 course meal to be shockingly underwhelming. My food was bland and the flavor that was there wasn’t particularly unique for a 5x Michelin starred restaurant. I’d be open to giving this place another try, but I don’t think that such a renowned restaurant should need another try, because if it truly lives up to the hype I would’ve been blown away the first time. If I didn’t visit during restaurant week and instead paid full price for each food item I would be very upset because it’s just not worth the price point.
