Chalet Restaurant & Bakery is Newport’s premier family restaurant! We are family owned and operated for the past 40 years! We feature quality ingredients with a wholesome, friendly atmosphere, and affordable pricing for your family to relax and enjoy. A huge thank you to our community for continued loyalty, and support over all these years. It has been a special pleasure watching the families who dine with us grow and evolve over time. 40 years ago many of our customers were coming in with small children, and now these families have grown to include grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. It truly is a joy to see your smiling faces on a regular basis. We are pleased to be a part of your daily lives. Thank You.

The sandwich was okay. Nothing to write hope about but DEFINITELY not worthwhile the $17 I paid for a half grilled cheese, cup of soup. It did include a slice of pie that I had them package to go. Got in my car and within 10 minutes opened to eat my lemon meringue. Please see attached photos. What I found upon opening was not even a glop. It was like they put the lemon meringue in the microwave and then gave it to me. How does this even happen? I’ve never seen this happen, ever. I put my fork into the meringue and it crumbled . Save yourself and go to McDonalds. I’m not kidding. Also, it was 65 degrees today. This had nothing to do the weather, especially since I opened it 10 min after getting it.

A solid 4.5. The food and service are quite good. We split the minced ham and eggs and it was plenty for both of us. Cute little place with a fantastic array of pies and cakes!

First time eating here and it was delicious. I am gluten free and was able to get a grilled cod sandwich on a delicious bun. They even have numerous gluten free desserts. Only think that could make this place better was to have sweet potato fries!!

0 stars if that were possible.

I ordered the $20 turkey plate, and the turkey was watery, mushy, and honestly comparable to dog food. Completely inedible and absolutely unacceptable for something being served to paying customers, especially at that price.
When I calmly brought this up to our server, her response was “it is what it is, and you ordered it.” No apology, no offer to replace it, and no effort to make it right.

I then asked to speak with the manager, who I was told is also the owner. Instead, I overheard the manager/owner laugh and say, “that’s how it tastes,” and then refuse to come speak with me.
The food quality was awful, but the dismissive attitude and complete lack of professionalism were even worse. Laughing at a customer’s concern and refusing to address it is unacceptable.

Save your money. Save your appetite. I will never return and do not recommend this place to anyone.

Really like this place. They have a lot of great baked goods here. I usually get the fish and chips and a piece of pie.the halibut fish and chips is pretty great.

If you are celiac level gluten-free, this is a Restaurant I would recommend. The amount of options they had was really great for a normal restaurant. Plus they have an entire section just devoted to gluten-free take-home items. Their gluten-free pancakes were OK they make them in house and the recipe definitely needs some work before I would recommend them. However, this is still a really good restaurant. Our family really likes to eat at when we are down on the coast. I would definitely recommend you drop by.

We barely ordered and our food was right out within 10 min. The ladies were coming around with coffee so often we didn’t have time to finish a cup. The food was so delicious. Everything was truly amazing.

Amazing pancakes and Belgian waffle!! I had the Hazelnut Blueberry Pancakes and my hubby had the Golden Brown Waffle. Both were so delicious!!

We loved it so much, we came back the next day! I’m a creature of habit and ordered the same Hazelnut Blueberry Pancakes. Hubby ordered the Country Steak and Buttermilk Pancakes. Delicious, delicious, delicious!!!

I’ve been eating at the chalet restaurant for the last 25 years. The staff are always caring and supportive and treat you like family.Saw the review on the turkey dinner recently and thought what a shame that that customer would say those things. me and my friends think that that is the best meal that they have to offer. please don’t miss out on such a great meal because of one out-of-towners review.

My wife’s mother used to take her to the Chalet as a kid. Her mom loved all the food there, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give it a go while we were there. It was fantastic. I had the chicken fried steak. It was perfection. The biscuit was amazing. The one thing I wish they still had was the Black bottom rum pie my wife talks about all the time. Apparently we missed it by 2 years. We were gonna come back the next day before we left town, but I suddenly took ill with the flu and just went straight home. The wait staff was super friendly. Looking forward to trying more of their food next time we are down from Salem.
