Angelo’s has been a staple on Sixth Avenue since 1974. It was owned and operated by the Laveo family until March of 2013, when Craig Jones purchased the restaurant and ushered in a new chapter while honoring its roots. The old-world family recipes remained at the heart of the menu, with modern twists added along the way, like char-grilled oysters and balsamic-glazed ribs, helping shape the eclectic offerings you see today. Many years into its rebirth, Angelo’s continues to thrive in the same neighborhood, boasting one of Denver’s best happy hours and an oyster bar that moves over 7,000 oysters a week, ensuring the freshest selections from both coasts.
Casual Italian plates, oysters, and a full bar featured in homey surroundings.

The bread is super mid.
I ordered squash gnocchi and it’s a little bit oily for me.
Both the cannoli and the tiramisu are good for dessert
Only other downsides were that we asked if they served bread with the dishes and the server said no so we ordered some bread. As you can tell the dishes did come with bread. No big deal but if the server was trying to upsell we’d rather they suggest buying bread because it’s so good instead of misleading us. My napkin was also very dirty and not properly washed. Again not a big deal but not the best first impression for our first time here.
Eventually, a younger server who seemed new offered to seat us outside. We agreed, even though rain was in the forecast, since it didn’t feel too cold at the time. But sure enough, it started to drizzle and got chilly. After waiting another 20–30 minutes, I went back inside to ask about a table, and the same attentive server (not the hostess) found us one right away. She was really helpful and did her best to take care of us, which I appreciated.
That said, the food wasn’t impressive, especially considering the price. Between the poor first impression from the hostess and the average dishes, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. Service matters, and I felt like the hostess didn’t care about our experience at all.
My only issue with the salad was the amount of nuts on it….I wanted some, but dang, I had to pick off so many and give them to my partner. Other than that, it was fresh and flavorful.
I don’t remember the name of the pizza, but it had hatch chili’s, bacon, and hot honey…WOW, so tasty!
Service was good even with how busy it was!
getting the burrata starter!
