We were staying in Hurricane Mills on our way to TX from VA. We decided to eat at the Log Cabin restaurant as it was nearby our hotel and we like to eat at local restaurants whenever we travel.
Wow- what a treat! Danni, our waitress, was exceptional! She was friendly , knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. She checked on us several times during our meal without being disruptive.
The restaurant is an actual log cabin that is over 100 years old. It’s been expanded, remodeled, and made into a restaurant, but we love that they used a historical building rather than tearing it down.
We started with a bottled beer and a bottled Smirnoff ice orange cream drink. I had never had one before, but it was delicious. We chose fried green tomatoes and fried mushrooms as our appetizers. Both were very good, but we enjoyed the fried mushrooms more.
We split the fried chicken plate dinner, which included three pieces of chicken. You can choose which three pieces you want ($1.99 extra for all white meat). We chose a thigh, a wing and a breast. It was absolutely delicious! The plate meal included two sides- we chose mashed potatoes (which are homemade) and included two types of gravy (both creamy white gravy and traditional brown gravy) and fried okra. The okra was fine, but we wouldn’t order it again.
The meal also included bread (either rolls, cornbread, or spicy cornbread). We chose the traditional rolls, which were homemade and delicious.
We got an order of buttermilk pie to go and shared it at our hotel. It is like a custard pie and very good.
We would wholeheartedly recommend the Log Cabin restaurant if you are in Hurricane Mills- you will not be disappointed! And… if you are lucky, you may get Danni as your waitress.

It was my first time coming to the Log Cabin Restaurant in Hurricane Mills Tennessee. I live in Paris. And I have to say they we’re not kidding about the cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and most of all; there fantastic scrumptious Savory Country Food!! Hot and Fresh!! It may take around 45 minutes to receive the Chow. But it’s Worth the wait. They also do some seafood, BBQ and Pasta Too!! I had the Cajun grilled chicken pasta bowl! And it was fantastic and savory! Got some pictures for you to see it. And the Place.

Stopped here while traveling. Cute restaurant- resembles a small country “Cracker Barrel”. Waitress , Ellie, super patient and friendly. Older lady sitting near the door at a table, think she did work here, gave a kind of weird judgy vibe. Just kinda stared, but then did see her start “working” after we’d been there a little while and as we were leaving she was indeed behind the hostess stand. If she does work there or is the owner, was NOT very warm and friendly. Food was good!

We had the catfish and fried chicken breast with white gravy; collard greens and white beans, fries, hushpuppies, roll mashed potatoes — everything was delicious and the portion size was very generous (my picture was taken after we had already partaken 😉 I highly recommend this restaurant. Our waitress, Kyndal was great!! She was very attentive and sweet!!

I had the buttermilk pie the green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy, you get to choose what type of gravy. I had the pork tenderloins they were overseased but still okay. Sweet tea and a ball mason jar so it was good. I also had the cornbread Mexican style that was good.

Decided to try this place when we were staying at the local KOA and were not disappointed. Really fantastic comfort food all around. We were too stuffed for dessert but it looked too good to pass up, so we took some to go. Would definitely go back.

I got the shrimp and grits which was okay, but I probably should have asked what their specialties were or what they were known for and tried that. The fried okra was decent and the staff was great.
