Went in for dinner this past evening and it was quite a wonderful experience. The place has some real vintage vibes and feels to it, almost like stepping back in time, but enjoying a plate of New American Southern fare. The dim lights and dark colours of the atmosphere make it a relaxing environment.the food was very delightful as well. Their menu is constantly rotating but as for what I ordered…. A called the Criterion Collection, which I picked because that is a fabulous collection of movies. The buttermilk fried appetizer which was unique and vibrant in its taste, which reminded me of fried shoestring onions. For the main course it was the fried catfish served stop butter rice and smokey gravy with a side of black eyed peas and confit. And lastly, for desert, an cider cheesecake with one damn fine Irish Coffee. The Roosevelt is regarded as one of the best places to eat in town and I must say that after my dinner here, those are my sentiments exactly exactly. I had been here once before for brunch some years back and my only regret is not coming in for dinner sooner.

Fantastic dining experience. Everything from the craft cocktail to the appetizers to the entree had my taste buds doing a dance. Would definitely recommend and suggest securing reservations.

Delicious and creative dishes, and fantastic service from Kat! I have celiac, and this is a great place to dine safely. Tons of gluten-free options. I had the beef tartar with mini potatoes, and an apple salad with persimmon butter. I can’t wait to return!

Everything about this experience was amazing. Our server was knowledgeable and kind, the drinks were tasty, and the food was amazing. We got the brisket stuffed peppers, cornbread, catfish, and boudin. I will 10000% be back and I will be bringing all my out of RVA friends. There’s a reason this restaurant is talked about!

Dinner was wonderful! Our server was so warm and the kitchen gave me a notated menu showing what was safe with my food allergy. Everything we ate was so good we forgot to take pictures after the appetizer .

Perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or to eat food you don’t cook at home. The Fig Sazerac was wonderful too. We will be back!

One small note, it can be a bit chilly near the windows, so bring a shawl or cardigan in colder weather. But don’t let it stop you from going!

Our first experience at The Roosevelt exceeded expectations. We’ve been in the Richmond area for almost a year and are now asking ourselves why we didn’t come here sooner! The Pork Butt Pot Roast was fantastic, possibly the most tender pork we’ve ever had and the flavors were perfect. Also got the Beef Tenderloin which was great. So many other great choices on their menu to try, we will definitely be returning soon. The atmosphere was very friendly and very comfortable; it was busy and kind of noisy at times but not crazy loud. I would rate the service as great but not exceptional. It met expectations. Overall this is one of our best dining experiences in RVA and it’s only 5 minutes from where we live . We will be returning soon and highly recommend everyone else check it out!

My friends and I had a fantastic time indulging in multiple rounds of Lemon Drop Martinis, along with delicious appetizers like cornbread and wings, followed by a delightful dinner. Our server was exceptional, making the evening even more special as we celebrated my friend’s birthday. To our surprise, they treated my friend to a complimentary glass of Prosecco adorned with a birthday candle. We couldn’t resist sharing our entrees, which included smoked brisket meatballs, pan-roasted shrimp, and fried catfish, all of which were incredibly tasty. The portions were generous enough for sharing, and the fried catfish was simply the best we’ve ever tasted, prompting us to order some to take home. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for a cozy evening with friends or family!

My boyfriend and I regularly go on adventures that involve trying new restaurants and detailing our experience. Usually it’s just amongst ourselves but this time we needed to write an official review because we just had a culinary experience. I use that word because “we went out to eat” is a woefully inaccurate description of what just happened. It was an experience from start to finish. The drinks are the reason why I now understand the term “hand crafted” and the food was its own form of art. We spent half the meal trying to come up with the words to describe it. My only regret is I don’t know the bartender’s name. I hate to even call him a bartender. A guide maybe? An artiste? a craftsman? He had the best recommendations and he was amazing and as if it couldn’t get better he designed a drink for me. I love lavender and he designed a drink that brought my literal imagination to life. So yeah if you’re thinking about trying it go ahead and if you see what I mean find this review helpful! Please Roosevelt we ordered the catfish and pot roast if you can give the name of the man that helped us that would be amazing! This review is being written on our way home so you can pinpoint the date and time!
