I can’t believe Red Dragon is closed! It was our favorite Chinese place

It’s one of the last old school Chinese Restaurants close to home. Definitely one of the last vintage Elmhurst places.

Food was pretty bad. I ordered a simple meal to share. Orange chicken w eggrolls, fried rice and crab Rangoon. Rangoon’s weren’t terrible but pretty mediocre. The orange chicken was really bad, dry (almost like jerky) pieces all throughout and got stuck in our teeth almost every bite, and also soggy on the outside. Egg rolls were really small and had a strange taste. Bad flavor. Rice wasn’t bad. Delivery took about an hour and ten minutes

I’ve been going to Red Dragon for years. I first moved to Elmhurst back in 2009, and it quickly became my de facto Cantonese place. It’s gone through a lot of changes over the years, but the current ownership/management is top notch. They treat my family like family every time we come in.

The food is affordable and delicious and you can tell the people who are running that place care a great deal about it.

I picked up some take out for lunch as I got off the train. The service was wonderful and so fast! And the price was good for the amount of food you get. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken with fried rice. It was okay, it wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great either. It was basically bits of chicken and chopped up vegetables in a brown sauce with some peanuts thrown on top. It wasn’t even spicy which is one of the reasons why I love Kung Pao. The rice didn’t taste like fried rice either. The egg roll (not pictured) was pretty good.

I bali bali beef and crab rangoon were delicious. I thought the Bo Bo Platter appetizer would be bigger. The potstickers had a ridiculous amount of dough, but I liked the flavor after I pealed most of the dough off.

I ordered the king Pao shrimp and this is what I got; weird deep fried rings of imitation crab! It’s not shrimp, it’s not even pretending to be shrimp, it’s soggy onion rings of stale fish! Unacceptable. I can’t even imagine what the rude woman in front would say if I confronted her! Given the hateful look she gave with our food, I’ll just take my loss. Wouldn’t trust her not to spit in it or worse! But what a low blow, what a cheap, dirty cop out on having a standard food item that’s on your menu.

Ordered for pick up and got the vegetable delight with tofu for the lunch special. Oh my god. The moment I bit into the spring roll I knew they had the best Chinese food in town.

This was my first time here. I had the General Tso’s Chicken. They were able to accommodate my egg allergy and didn’t bread the chicken. The waiter was very nice and efficient. I’m excited to go back there to other dishes.

This is the best Chinese food in the suburbs! This is the best of the best the elite in Chinese food (my all time favorite). They have amazingly big portions which I have not been able to finish, there will be leftovers! The food is fresh and tastes amazing. The prices are very reasonable considering how much food you get. This review is for DINE IN as takeout is like another inferior restaurant for some reason. Do dine in! You won’t be disappointed. Chow fun and kung pao are top notch!

The vibe is lacking, it’s quite with almost no music or anything. They could use more hot sauces like siracha or hot oils. The servers are really nice and service is fast. Try this place the food is on another level!

The food is below average. We spend over 70$ and tip the lady with additional 6$ it wasn’t enough and so she overcharged my credit card for another 6$ . I do have a reset so I came back and told the lady to refund me .She wasn’t very happy about the whole situation saying that is not possible but my bank statement was another proof. She refund me after all but we will never go back again. The place needs to be properly cleaned on daily basis.

I got the sweet and sour chicken, potstickers, crab Rangoon, and the vegetable lo mein. The amount of food for the price was extremely generous, and you know in this economy every bite counts the flavor of everything was EXCELLENT. I am an extremely picky Chinese food eater and this surpassed my expectations. 10/10 will be going again asap!!!!
