If you know KazuNori, you know the drill, long lines, but totally worth the wait! This spot on Colorado Blvd is easily one of the most popular hand roll spots in LA, and for good reason.

The setup is all bar seating and it’s pretty limited, so definitely expect a bit of a hangout before you get a stool. Once you’re in, the service is great and the rolls come out fast and super fresh.

I went with the 6-roll set which included the lobster roll, so good! But honestly, the scallop roll was the sleeper hit for me; the flavor was spot on. I love that you can do the sets or just go à la carte if you have specific favorites.

Parking in this area can be a nightmare, but there’s a big garage nearby that makes it super easy.

Great food, fresh fish, and that signature crispy seaweed. I’ll definitely be back (once I have time to stand in line again)!

We tried the hand rolls with hot green tea, here and they were delicious. Everything tasted great and felt carefully prepared, and the presentation was nice too. The service was good and smooth, and the staff were friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience pleasant.

That said, we did have a bit of an issue afterward — we ended up burping for most of the afternoon after the meal, which was a little uncomfortable and unexpected.

What a unique and amazing experience. KazuNori is a hand roll bar with exactly 24 seats in all of their locations, and the menu is super simple and easy to order. The sets are the way to go to try different types of hand rolls. You can see them made right in front of you and are made with top tier quality ingredients. They are a no tipping establishment, but there is a 16% surcharge to fund all of their operations. The washroom experience was also incredible, I have never seen a faucet with 2 different types of soap, one for before eating and one for after.

We savored the 6-Hand Roll and salmon sashimi, and it was truly delightful—especially the Bay Scallops Roll, which was exceptionally fresh and flavorful.

The new KazuNori location on Colorado Boulevard just opened, and we stopped by for lunch before heading to the Huntington Library. Overall, this was truly a 4.5 out of 5 experience.

We each ordered the 4 hand roll set. I added an extra yellowtail and substituted the crab for salmon, which was handled easily. The rice was seasoned perfectly, the fish was fresh, and the seaweed continues to be one of the best you can get for hand rolls.

The staff was friendly, and the hand rolls were presented right when you expected them, which kept the pacing of the meal spot on. Service was quick and efficient without feeling rushed. The ambiance is consistent and inviting, exactly what you expect from KazuNori.

My only minor wishes would be fresh wasabi as an option and seats that are a bit more form fitting, especially if you plan to sit through a full set. Neither is a deal breaker, but both would elevate the experience even more.

KazuNori remains one of the most reliable spots for high quality hand rolls, and this new Pasadena location is a great addition. I will definitely be back.

Parking can be tough, but I later realized they do have parking in the back. I ended up doing street parking, which worked out fine. I ordered the $29 combo, and it is a really good value. The warm rice pairs really well with the fish and makes each hand roll satisfying.

One surprising note is that I actually do not recommend the toro here, which is weird because I usually love toro as sashimi. The standouts for me were the salmon and the scallop, both of which were excellent. Service was great, and it is very easy to get in and out. No tipping is allowed since gratuity is included, which I appreciate.

I went on a Tuesday evening and the waiting time wasn’t too bad. The food was fresh and delicious, I got the 6 set rolls and my favorite is the baby scallop, which tastes amazing. The only downside is that parking is really hard to find. I would recommend to friends!

Really delicious handrolls – been several times now and always walked out happy and full.

I typically did the 6 rolls and added 2-3 rolls on top but most people seemed to be good with just 5-6 rolls all in.

Service / eating is pretty quick (expect to have your meal done in 25 to 45 min from sitting to leaving), which is to be expected given the big demand.

Reasonable on substitutions – some rolls couldn’t be changed but all the ones I had issues with (can’t eat shellfish) they were happy to sub out.

For those worried about lines – it seems if you get there before 11:30 all the days I went you’d get seated, but depending on the weather/day by 11:35 to 11:40-ish all seats are full and then you have to wait for it to start emptying which is usually around 12 when first new seats open up (and it prob doesn’t matter much if you arrive 11:40 or 12 — since most seats from round 1 will open up very quickly one after the other as the first round wraps up)

The manager named Hui was extremely disrespectful to our party. He disrespected and belittled us in front of the entire restaurant because I mistook our party had 5 people instead of 6. I’ve never had an issue with Kazunori before, we definitely will not be coming back until he’s removed.
