This place is a treasure and should be protected at all costs. Our waiter was Parker. He was very kind and attentive. He made us feel instantly welcome, and ensured we had everything we needed. I believe we met one of the Chef’s as we were leaving, and although I didn’t catch his name, he was very kind and nice. The overall vibe of this restaurant is relaxing, and aside from the amazing service, the food is spectacular. Everything everyone at the table ordered was perfectly cooked and seasoned and I know because I tasted it all! I’m someone who appreciates well seasoned food, and the food here hits that mark and then blows your mind as well. The flavor profiles are layered and the dishes are paired nicely with sides complimenting main pieces of the dishes perfectly. We were just passing through town, and we live about an hour away, but I’m telling you, I’ll drive an hour to eat here again.

The food here was just okay. The grits had a unique flavor that was a bit different from what I was used to. The crawfish appetizer was also just alright, as it was a bit salty and the saltiness that came with it were soft.. The salad we received was a traditional one, taken from a bag, and the bacon dressing had a rather sour taste.
On a positive note, the risotto with shrimp and scallops was very tasty. However, the shrimp scampi came with grits instead of pasta, which was unusual. Overall, the food was overpriced and not very appealing.
As for the environment, it was a bit off-putting. When we told the chef that the food was good, he mumbled something in response and simply said “okay,” which felt dismissive. We also got charged for six in our party when one was a one year old baby. Who counts a baby as part of a group of six. Overall, it was okay for Waynesboro.

Came to this place to meet a friend halfway between Savannah and where she lives. Stopped here due to the reviews and to try something new. I ordered the Grouper Po-Boy with the potato salad. We started off with the fried shrimp. My wife ordered the BLT with sweet potato fries. Then we ordered the creme brulee and chocolate carmel brownie. The overall food was excellent, and the atmosphere was great as well. It really had the southern charm that you would hope to have in a small town restaurant. It’s also worth noting that the food was quite affordable as well!
Here are my ratings:
Fried Shrimp 10:10
Tarter Sauce 10:10
Grouper Po-Boy 8:10 ( mostly good but had a few bites that were fishy)
BLT 10:10
Potato Salad 7:10 ( it was pretty good, but it actually reminded me of the yellow mustard potato salad you can buy in a container)
Sweet Potato Fries 10:10
Creme Brulee 10:10
Chocolate Brownie 8:10

Delicious food and a charming atmosphere are what this place have going for it. The cook staff was excellent and even checked on me, but the wait staff and management didn’t have a sense of urgency and I ended up waiting for a very long time for soup I could see sitting at the counter ready and to pay even though I watched the manager just chatting and chatting. I love supporting small restaurants though and I really do recommend this place if you aren’t in a hurry. I also saw an impressive bar on my way out, so I would love to see what drinks they offer.

My first time, and I am visiting from Florida. What a hidden gem! The food and service were amazing and I love the atmosphere. Cocktails were great we had a Moscow mule and old fashioned. My mom had the filet and I had the shrimp and scallops with bacon and corn risotto (to die for!)
The strawberry tart should be added to the menu we were practically licking the bowl! Great job to all the staff and hard workers!

My wife and I were in town and on the recommendation of a friend we came to GDC. The atmosphere was of a cool old store with the wood floors and cool deco. We started with the Pork and Asian veggie egg rolls and the Tonkatsu pork. Both apps were good but they weren’t hot when they came out so that didn’t help the fact that they were kind of bland. Salads came with both our meals and I got the champagne vinaigrette dressing that was delicious. for the main course my wife got the Shrimp scampi, she said that the grits were dry and could have used a little sauce or just made better. I had the Kevin’s beef medallions which were ok, the beef wasn’t as tender as others I have had and they definitely needed some salt. Now for the amazing part of the meal…the desserts. On our servers recommendation we got the tart and crème brule. The tart was out of this world, probably in the top 5 desserts we have ever had. It had a delicious cream layer that they make in house and the sauce was nothing like we have ever had. The crème brule was delicious but the sugar was torched a little to long and it was a little bitter. I still enjoyed it though.
We feel that the main meal was a 3 star but with some small changes could definitely make it 4+ but the desserts pushed us into the 4 star range. The staff was very friendly, the kitchen staff was constantly going in and out of the door we sat next to but they did ask about our meal and experience. We would go back when we are in town again.

Food was excellent . Service not so good. The one waitress couldn’t keep up . Our drinks weren’t ever refilled. It took us forever to order . It wasn’t her fault but we won’t be returning.

Really wanted to love this restaurant. Went there last night arrived shortly after 7:30, after sitting down with no menus it took roughly 15 mins for any wait staff to acknowledge our table. It took almost 2.5 hours for our dinners to arrive at our table, we ordered chicken Marsala and another dinner dish. The chicken Marsala was served with almost no Marsala sauce on it and was really a chicken breast HEAVILY seasoned with black pepper, and the risotto was cold. My husband’s meal was served shortly after and his risotto was very hot. We were very unimpressed and unpleased with our meals especially for the price. The waitress did unapologetically apologize and stated that the regular cook was not there and the cook that was working on a Friday night the week of the masters was just unfortunately slow and not up to par with handling the small crowd that was there. This was very unfortunate as it was our first time here and we had heard nothing but great reviews. We may try it again but unsure. The entire meal took 3 hours and unfortunately that is unacceptable.

Loved this cafe!! The food was delicious and served by a wonderful lady named Bobbie who was so friendly and a great server. The restaurant uses its old salvaged materials and artwork on the walls to make a beautiful decor. We ordered the shrimp basket with fries and a grilled cheese and French onion soup. Also enjoyed the amazing desserts. We really liked the town of Waynesboro and hope to go back someday.
