I love the old style country stores, and Alfred Country Store did not disappoint. All the employees working during my visit were friendly and accommodating. I wanted some lunch after a long wait at the Maine BMV to renew my driver’s license. Comfort food was required.
I got a small tuna fish sub with American cheese, a lot of comfort. The bread was VERY fresh and good. The tuna was perfectly done. The sub was delicious.
The store has a good variety of merchandise as well as a good assortment of foods on their menu. There is limited seating inside and a table outside for those wanting to eat there.
I did notice they have an excellent selection of beer. The coffee bar seemed adequate and well-stocked. Prices were very reasonable for a country store. I will go back when nearby.

My husband and I have gotten takeout a few times and we’ve had great experiences with the food and service. It’s a tiny spot but it’s imoressive, and their food offerings are surprisingly excellent! I’m a big fan of their Alfred Square omelet wrap, they don’t skip on the fillings! Recently, we had dinner from them and my husband had a burger which he really enjoyed. I had their corned beef panini, plus a side salad and we both tried some of their fried food sides (fries and onion rings). Overall, we have been very happy with them and having a reliable takeout option is something we’re both grateful for.

Visiting the area with family and happened across this absolute gem! The building may have a small footprint but you forget that almost immediately given how many fun and unique goodies they have managed to pack inside… and the food is top notch. Whatever you do, do not leave this or any adjacent towns without trying the breakfast pizza.

Not handicap accessible. On line prices do not match what the total is when calling in a take out order. Because of the difference I chose not to order. However, the food is good for a convenience store.

This part of Maine has stores and gas stations that all serve food and before Nouria ruined it, each was unique. You went to that one place for the good pizza, and the other for the good ice cream. Such were vacations of my childhood, as it was for many I expect.
This place has food that is as good as can be found in these beautiful arcane little New England stores. There are a dozen within 5 miles, at least, and all serve decent chow. If youre on the lakes in western York county within…20 miles of here, it offers….an artisinal take on the ubiquitous deliciousness found throughout the region in the American classics: Pizza, sandwiches, soups, salads, and sundries. Also, they sell candied bacon like beef jerky and maple cheese popcorn and that’s how a 15 dollar lunch gets over 30 dollars but thats on me, prices are competitive. lol. Well worth it. ❤️
