My brother ordered the chilaquiles, and I ordered the birria with corn tortillas.
We’ve always wanted to come here for their happy hour/DJ brunch, and I’m glad we finally did. So fun.
The food:
First off, the food was AMAZING. The chilaquiles and the birria plate were a great 1–2 punch. The sauce that came with the chilaquiles was soooo good.
The drink:
I forgot the name of my drink, but it came with a toasted marshmallow—and let me tell you, not only was it good, it was perfectly strong 🙂
Alyanna:
She was the glue for the entire experience—friendly, attentive, and fun. She saw that I ate my marshmallow, and even though I was joking about getting another, she went ahead, toasted two, and brought them to me. Thank you for elevating our time there, and we’ll be back!
House margarita $13!
The salsa was different & tasty. The food was good. Except for my two scoops of rice were cold. All in all for the price probably won’t be going back anytime soon.
Our table was initially unattended, and I had to flag down a waiter to request a server. After receiving a menu, I placed my order, and my cousin requested chips to go with the guacamole they just received. However, despite asking three separate times, our table never received the chips that accompanied it.
There was an open table next to us that we requested, but we were told it was unavailable—even though it remained empty for some time afterward. When we asked about switching tables due to limited space, particularly since we had a child with us, we were told this was not possible. Later, our table was physically moved to accommodate the DJ’s space needs, yet no consideration was given to the lack of space for our party.
At approximately 7:42 p.m., a manager approached our table requesting a chair that belonged to someone in our party, explaining they needed to seat the next reservation. When I asked to speak with a manager regarding our experience, the server was sent instead.
Due to the delays, missing items, and feeling rushed, I ultimately decided to cancel my order entirely. The food looked visually appealing, though I cannot comment on the taste. Additionally, the drink I ordered was quite small for a $16 price point, especially compared to similar establishments that offer more generous portions.
Overall, while the staff was polite, the experience felt disorganized and not accommodating. It seemed the restaurant may have been overbooked or unprepared to manage the volume of guests. Unfortunately, based on this visit, we would not return. I hold high expectations for customer service, and this experience fell short.
not our fault our food came out so late. They offered no apologies. Might be better on a less busy day. The music was the best part.
Also my husband fell in love with the habanero salsa. Looking forward to coming back to try out their weekend brunch.
Right now, the restaurant is beautifully adorned with festive Christmas decorations, creating a cozy and enchanting atmosphere that had me snapping photos left and right. I was truly impressed by how seamless everything was, especially since they just opened!
Every dish our family ordered was a perfect 10—delicious and bursting with flavor. If you’re searching for a spot to enjoy a delightful meal with your family, El Don is the place to be for REAL AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD!
