We had the salmon, which was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, along with the lobster soup, which was rich, creamy, and incredibly comforting. We also couldn’t resist trying two Icelandic hot dogs with fries, and they lived up to the hype. Simple, flavorful, and very satisfying.
The portions were generous, the food was fresh, and everything came out hot and well prepared. It’s a great mix of local favorites and hearty comfort food, making it an easy place to please everyone in your group.
Overall, fantastic food in a cozy, casual setting. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or a warm sit-down meal, Old Harbour House is definitely worth a visit.
Me and my partner came here after spending well over £100 a restraunt at other places and we ended up having fish and chips together. It was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life and living by the coast in Kent back in the UK I’m very familiar with good and bad cod but this was beyond amazing.
I spoke with the head chef and I told him just how well done our meals were and that he should be very proud of his skills whilst the staff at the bar were very friendly.
We spent around 8000isk which is around £45 at the time on two main meals, a hot dog and two drinks which is the cheapest restraunt we’ve ate at locally in Reykjavík.
Thank you once again to the staff and head chef at this amazing establishment !! 🙂
The only downsides were that it’s self-service, and that it can get a little chilly inside (I’m assuming only during the winter).
On our return we ordered fish and chips and a burger and chips which was cooked to perfection. Dan at the bar also prepared me the famous Icelandic hot dog, all washed down with a nice beer.
Another point that negatively affects the experience is the service setup. You have to order at the bar and then go pick up your food yourself. For a place at this price level, it would make much more sense to have table service or at least a waiter bringing the food to the table.
In general, the place has potential, but the food quality and service do not match the prices they charge.
The restaurant itself is a cosy setting overlooking the water.
I would highly recommend coming here.
The manager Villi was very friendly and outgoing. He was very attentive and greeted everyone with open arms, while making them feel right at home. Super cute establishment with great food and delicate service, a must do for a meal!
