I ordered a to-go order to be ready at 2200 because I work 3rd shift and was picking food up for my crew. I didn’t want to hold the workers at the restaurant up until the last minute since I knew they were closing at 2200. I showed up at 2145ish and they had the food freshly finished and packaged. Perfect timing, and even after the 10-15 minute drive to the office, it was still hot and delicious. El Vaq is not super “authentic” Mexican food, but it is one of the best whitewashed versions in the city with good portion sizes. I had 4 different dinners with different specifications and all of them were made correctly.

03/15/2025 – First time visiting this El Vaquero with family for lunch. The bar set up was enticing. I ordered their house margarita which was delicious and substantial in size. For an appetizer, I sampled their Trio Dip that hit the spot. And for my entree, I ordered their Pollo Margarita which was delicious. I also sampled their Orchata and it was delicious! The ambiance and decor were culturally comforting and welcoming. Amazing service. Thank you Oscar and Kelmar for making a first impression memorable. Nice size outdoor patio. Parking out front just feet away from the restaurant.

I won’t be back. Worst experience we have had to far. Restaurant was not busy and getting into the later part of the evening. My family decided that we wanted some Mexican food for dinner. Everything was okay until the food came out. My wife and daughter both had avocado on their food that should have been thrown in the trash! It was nasty brown. We told our server about it and another guy. They both turned and walked away, nothing was ever done about it! No fresh avocado was brought out or compensation on our bill. Then as I am eating my dinner, the guacamole salad had the heel of the lettuce in it and a large slice of the bottom white part of the lettuce, although I never said anything about that part because I was already disappointed. I don’t care if it is nearing the end of the night, I still am paying full price and should get a quality meal. To serve avocado that looks like that is shameful and I would have been embarrassed to put that on someone’s plate.

My husband and I drove by this restaurant a couple of weeks ago and saw quite a few people go in, so we went there for dinner on a Wednesday evening.
The restaurant was clean and bright. The staff were friendly and attentive. We arrived before 7 pm, so it was during happy hours and we got drinks at a lower price!
My Jumbo Lime Margarita was delicious, and my husband said he enjoyed his Pacifico beer!
We ordered Burrito Tejano and Enchiladas A La Mexicana. The portion was good, and they were delicious! As for the appetizer, they did not charge for the tortilla chips but the queso dip. That was fine with me.
One thing I would like them to improve is the guacamole that came with my enchiladas dish was a bit too salty and not fresh enough. But overall, our dining experience in this restaurant was good!

It was so good! The meal was awesome, as always, and this particular location is more spacious than others I feel like. The service was friendly and FAST! I felt like I just ordered my food and then it appeared. Amazing!

I dislike leaving bad reviews but the food we had here, while visiting from out of town was just terrible . It should have been a warning that at 1:30 on Sunday afternoon there were only two other occupied tables.

The chips and salsa were the first items to arrive at the table, which is very normal. The oil in the corn chips had turned rancid. You could smell the stench from about two tables away. The chips were very warm, but totally unedible.

Our table ordered a variety of food which came very quickly. Not noticable when it arrived but the entrees were also unable to be eaten. The Mole’ was like a flavorless warm brown gravy. The chicken was chewy. The potato and spinach enchiladas smelled (and tasted) more like feces than fresh, well-prepared food.

Nobody at the table had any desire to finish their food and I didn’t make it past the first bite. Avoid this place at all costs for food. Maybe the drinks are okay, don’t know.

I have not personally been here. However, my elderly parents go here a lot. They love the staff so much. My dad has Alzheimer’s and they are always really patient with him. I always hear such great things from my mom about the amazing staff and how they feel like family when they go in to eat. From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you for treating them so well
