GREAT BBQ! The outside might make you wonder, however, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. The smokey goodness is permeated throughout the meats with the right amount of smoke. Hatch Chillis mixed into a couple sides gives it a unique flavor with the right amount of heat. Don’t pass this one by, you’ll be sorry if you do. Trust this local guide, it could compete with the best in St Louis.

Pulled Pork tasted too smokey. Kinda tasted too much like the wood they used for smoking it. Their BBQ sauce and sweet tea are just ok.

They make up for their meat with their sides. Hush puppies, Mac and cheese and beans are really good. Sides give them the 3rd star.

I’d recommend Moe’s BBQ that’s also close instead.

Can’t help it but I like this place. I guess it’s kind of cozy in a man-cave sort of way. They carry local brews and since they’re (you’d think I’d ask if the guy doing everything is the owner and his name) not having dine-in let your creativity come out and find someplace to have the repast. For me knowing Golden a bit I chose this little known greenbelt at Camp George West’s backyard shared with NREL. Quiet, few people and my spot. Don’t you dare come to my spot without TIN STAR BBQ. Supporting local is too easy with good food like this. The Groupon was an added incentive. Tin Star supports local breweries with GCB, Golden City Brewery, being one of them. I should go to GCB to review them (great outdoor tasting room especially appealing to the outdoorsy in Winter). Oh those rabbit trails‼️ Any way… oh yeah I hope the pics turned out. They are my idea of BYOcreativity.

Delicious! Ordered the Big Tex brisket sandwich with a side of the campfire beans and added the green Chile Mac and cheese. Tasted the pulled chicken, coleslaw, sweet potato tater tots, and Texas toast. Hit the spot! My favorite was definitely the brisket, home made pickles and the green Chile Mac and cheese. Also, all of their sauces are great!

Great BBQ place in an unassuming location. Great sandwich and amazing Green Chile Mac and Cheese. Not a lot of seating, so don’t bring a huge party, but if I’m on this side of town, I’d definitely come back. Good sweet tea as well.

We went here for lunch because we were craving BBQ, but the restaurant was out of a lot of things such as cole slaw, brisket, ribs, and more. I literally went with the intention of getting brisket and slaw.

I hate leaving a negative review, but it was such a bummer of an experience. I ordered a chicken sandwich with no bun because I wanted the slaw on top and a side, not realizing they were out of slaw. Had I known all I was getting was some meat and and a side, I would’ve ordered them a la carte and the simple word change would’ve saved me around $7. I wish the guy who rang us up would’ve said something about this. He was really nice though and came to check on us halfway through our meal. The food was alright. The hush puppies were good, you get two big ones.

The atmosphere was chill, very low key, no frills.

Really great BBQ. Hush puppies were giant and delicious. The original BBQ sauce was just right. The hot links were our favorite thing on the plate. Went back for more hot links to take away with us they were so good. Great service, great food. Ten outta ten!

First time here and WOW! I got pulled pork (so much delicious smoke and incredibly tender) and the brisket due to no hot links and I’m glad I did. Brisket was fall off the bone tender and smoky as well. I contemplated marrying BBQ sauce with the meat because how do you top excellence? Mac and cheese was bang out, but I am sad they were out of beans too. The value was tremendous as well. I got enough food for today’s lunch and some for a sandwich tomorrow for $20. Slam dunk.

Service was excellent as well. They were out of iced tea and brewed a fresh batch on the spot. Most chain restaurants will just shrug and tell you to pick something else. I was not expected to get the same service as a recurring customer on my first visit.

I can see why this place’s charms could be overlooked if you’re looking for chain barbecue. The place looks like it hasn’t been updated in 50 years, and punk music blared from the kitchen as I chomped down. But I loved the atmosphere and gives a very unapologetically unique vibe. I mean who needs fancy floors when the food is amazing?

All in all, definitely a win on multiple fronts. I’ll definitely be back and hopefully the punk music persists when I’m there next time.
