I loved this place. Very chill, lot of community zen there. We had the sweet & spicy bowl and the earthy bowl for lunch -sooooooo yummy. Jesse is very nice and the man at the counter is the yoga instructor. It sounds as if they are very focused on people. I will be back to try something else on the menu.

What a little find! We caught them on community night where everyone sat together who didn’t know each other. They made us a vegan Buddha bowl. It felt like having homemade food. Very friendly and personal service. Glad we caught them open at this time of night at just the right time when we were passing through.

Excellent! Extremely accommodating to dietary restrictions. Amazing flavors! Best chai I’ve ever had. A must if you’re in the Ellsworth area and worth traveling to. Small cafe. Great service! (There is yoga too!)

Spicy Buddha bowl was a white rice disappointment: no quinoa like stated on the menu. It took so long to get our food (even with no one in the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon) that I thought sure they must be cooking the quinoa and rice fresh, but then when we received the food it seemed like just reheated white rice. The flavor was just okay and it made both myself and my husband very sick (severe nausea and diarrhea). Maybe there was an undeclared allergen like butter or wheat in the Buddha bowl? Otherwise I must assume you sold me some not very healthy reheated white rice that made me ill. The menu could be better labeled with allergens.
I looked up when the last health inspection was and you all haven’t been inspected since 2023 and it shows:
“As of the health inspection conducted on June 26, 2023, Conscious Cafe in Ellsworth, Maine, received several violations.
Violations noted
2-402.11: Food employees were not wearing effective hair restraints.
6-201.17: Walls and ceiling attachments were not easily cleanable.
6-501.12: The physical facilities were not clean.”
The atmosphere was probably the best part of the experience until the lawn care guy started playing around with a leaf blower (which is pointless considering the leaves aren’t even down yet)…the gas fumes didn’t compliment the meal and maybe lawn care could be scheduled on another day besides Saturday afternoon.

I came in here literally 3 years ago or something, and we are planning a trip back to Acadia with my in-laws. All I remembered is having the best chai I have ever had in my life. The food was good too, but words cannot explain the level of that chai. We will see you this weekend!

Conscious Cafe, in my experience, serves the most delicious and creatively prepared food in Ellsworth.
Each item on the menu is mindfully created with the freshest ingredients, the portions are generous and all menu choices are tasty and healthy. Try the beet & apricot salad with chicken or salmon added, kitchardee, a Buddha bowl or really anything on the menu.
The low key vibe facilitates a peaceful and unhurried experience that almost feels like one is dining with family and friends at home.

We just got into town and had no clue where to eat. We liked the sound of Conscious Cafe and stopped in for an amazing lunch. Our food was made fresh with locally sourced ingredients. Pacific salmon, Buddha Bowls and a stew. Everything was excellent and we hope to come back before we leave.

Jesse and his crew create food to nourish the body, mind, and soul and every dish is made with intention! The ingredients are fresh and when possible, locally sourced. Each bite is as good as the first and the chai tea is out of this world!! A hidden gem to be cherished.
