The boiled crawfish had the perfect kick, and the gumbo along with the red beans and rice were rich and full of flavor. We enjoyed some crispy pork rinds to snack on and finished with a delicious bread pudding that did not disappoint.
Highly recommend!!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Great food with plenty of options for my family who doesn’t eat pork or shellfish, and 2 family members who are wheat/gluten free. On the smaller side so seating is limited. Food takes awhile to get ready, so we prefer to order ahead and take to go. Favorite menu items: everything fried, dirty rice, greens.
Fabin was a great server with a warm personality. My wife is very sensitive to certain foods and he was able to give her in depth details on the content and cooking process for each item.
We started with the Etoufee Crawfish Dip. It was so good! It was served hot and the flavors were on target.
We both ordered “The Dirty South.” We had Dirty rice and greens as the base. I had blackened catfish and my wife had shrimp as her protein. When I tell you this was “Slap Ya Mama” good, that would be an understatement. The greens were tender and succulent, the dirty rice was moist and filled with such goodness. The blackened catfish was a perfect blend of seasoning and the fish was soooooo fresh and delicious.
Now for the coupe de gras, we ordered bread pudding. I’m not a big fan of bread pudding so I just waited for my wife’s reaction and it was one of complete satisfaction.
We had a great visit and we will be back!
This place is the real deal. We arrived on a crazy busy night (school spirit night), but the owners’ wife and staff managed the floor like absolute pros—attentive, friendly, and always checking on us. Maybe the best service environment I’ve ever experienced.
The food is just as good:
Appetizers (Crawfish Dip/Meat Pie): Absolutely inhaled them. The crawfish dip is rich and soupy (in the best way) with buttered toast for dipping. Set the tone immediately.
The Gumbo: Deeply flavorful, smoky broth with perfectly non-slimy okra.
Chicken Fried Chicken: Flaky, tender, sweet and peppery crust. Whipped potatoes and creamy comfort gravy. Pure, honest soul food.
The Cornbread: Dense and sweet—a must-order.
To top it off, the owner brought us free samples of their cornbread waffles (crispy outside, gooey inside!). This isn’t just a meal; it’s a generous, authentic experience run by people who genuinely care. Skip the chains and come here. Perfection.
The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. What really stood out was that the owners personally came out to greet us, that level of hospitality says everything about how much they care about their guests and their food.
We started with boiled crawfish, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice. We also sampled a cup of gumbo and red beans and rice, and both were absolutely delicious. We snacked on some crispy pork rinds in between (so good!), and ended the night with an amazing bread pudding that was the perfect sweet finish to an already fantastic meal.
If we could give this place six stars, we absolutely would. Highly recommend for anyone looking for true Cajun flavor and genuine Southern hospitality right here in Wylie, Texas!
