El Parian: A Mexican Culinary Gem in Paris, AR

The green salsa is very good. Ask for it. You will need it if you favor a little more spice. I had the Especial El Parian, aka mixed fajitas (Shrimp, chicken, beef and chorizo). Lots of meat, fresh peppers, tomatoes and onions all on a hot cast iron skillet. The chorizo helped to deliver flavor to the meal. This is recommended, but you better be hungry. Check the pictures. My wife had the simple lunch special. Found in almost every Mexican restaurant, the Speedy Gonzales. Taco, enchilada and beans at a bargain price of $6.99.
There is another Mexican restaurant on the other end of town. Try them both, pick your favorite.
If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection “Jalapeno Highway” by Spike S. on Yelp. I’ve probably been there.
While beans and rice are normally bland at every Mexican restaurant ever, the beans here are quite flavorful! The rice was so-so, as I had expected, but the beans were a nice surprise.
The main courses were steak burrito for me and chicken fajita for Linda. Here is where things got exciting! Both dishes were richly filled with amazing flavors. Well-balanced spices blended with the perfect grill on the meats worked seamlessly with thinly sliced vegetables. Overall, it was the best Mexican food since New Mexico! Finally, let’s talk price. The lunch burrito was $7.99, the fajita $8.99, and we both have leftovers!
This was markedly better than La Mesa in Paris, and the service was so much better than the overt rudeness we faced at LA Mesa as well. Our new go-to Mexican restaurant.
NOTE: per local ordinance, they are not allowed to serve alcohol on Sundays until 2:00 p.m. No draft beer, only bottles. But very cold! Margaritas available too!
Photos: taken after a big crowd left the restaurant. It’s usually busy and does a good amount of takeout orders.
While you’re there, say hello to Eddie the owner. Nice guy with a great staff. You won’t regret your trip to this restaurant!
Cute little Mexican food joint. The service was EXCELLENT, prices were good and had a great variety of options on their menu.
The guacamole was not what I’m used to (ingredients in chunks, not mashed & mixed) but was still decent.
Great place for a fun family meal!
Next time I’m in town, I will return to El Parian!!!!!
