Monty’s is THE place for a friendly neighborhood bar. The staff and regulars make it feel welcoming and local, like you are visiting a friend’s house. The cocktails are delicious, the beer is always cold, and the food is excellent (the nachos and crispy chicken salad are must-tries). Rotating specials keep the menu fresh and exciting.
The cozy, well-decorated space and comfortable seating make it easy for my husband and me to bring friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers out to hang. Be sure to stop in on Sunday nights for trivia with Kenny, fun questions and great vibes!
Thank you to Monty’s and GM Jon for creating a place that brings people together and keeps us coming back.

Did the pull-up for dinner at Monty’s, and it was really good. For an appetizer, we had the pretzel sticks and beer cheese, which were both outstanding. For dinner, I odered the chicken pesto sandwich, and my wife had the stir fry. The chicken was good but very small compared to most chicken sandwiches I have had at another restaurant. It was the same size as a chicken cutlet. It was l pretty thin. However, it tasted really good, and I would get it again. I would also.

After my visit I’m left with regret. The food wasn’t good and they didn’t have enough servers working. Mac and cheese had very little cheese. Worst we had ever had. Ordered a cheese burger with bacon & fries. Fries were great, but the bacon was old a leathery. Our bill was $60 for two burgers and 4 drinks.

Finally made it to this local spot and really enjoyed our food and drinks! Plus the service was outstanding. I enjoyed their Margarita and we got poutine tots with an egg on top, chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and my husband got a dip sandwich. Everything was so yummy except for the mashed potatoes potatoes which I thought were pretty bland and needed some more salt or gravy to amp them up. Our server noticed I had barely ate them and was nice enough to even take them off our bill, without us even asking! Great and friendly service, food arrived quickly, and the relaxed sports bar atmosphere made this a great first time. We are excited to go back and try even more menu items!

A great neighborhood bar. The food and service are great. It’s a good place to meet a friend, watch a premier league match, or just hang out. Oh, and they have a burger and beer for $10 on Thursdays.

The food is just so so and the bar is noisy and not at all inviting. Have been to all the Bar Star group restaurants in Ann Arbor and they are all overrated and serve sub par food. The food tastes like heated up frozen food. Nothing fresh or innovative. So sad that they bought Wolverine Brewery.

Drafts are only 12 oz! For a $7 beer, I assume I’m ordering a pint.
Otherwise, it’s a nice establishment. Food is solid if pricey; service is good; cozy atmosphere but not enough sound dampening.

Went in for a drink and some pinball. I’ve always enjoyed Monty’s and have never had any problems before. I hand the server (manager) my drivers license and she said they can’t take it because it’s vertical, they only take horizontal cards. Inconvenient for sure but I understand, I’ve had this happen before. Luckily I have my military ID which is horizontal. She then says they can’t take those either. Huh? I ask why and she says that’s the rules.

Before we leave I try to ask her why once again. She says the law says they can only take horizontal state drivers licenses or passports. No military IDs are allowed. I tell her there is no such law. She says those are the rules of the bar. I say she must have made those rules up. She tells me that I’m sorry I heard something I didn’t want to hear, and that she is done debating. All I was asking was why.

The real law is that establishments have the right to refuse anyone for any reason. If she had said THAT was the law, it would’ve been silly, but I would have understood – it is the law after all. But instead, she tried to write her own laws and got caught in a lie. She was unlucky to make up a law in front of someone who knows what the laws are, got called out for it, and got defensive. Oh well.

I’m incredibly sorry for the staff that have to work under that manager. There is no reason to enforce such rules unless you have a desperate need to hold power over others. I cannot imagine she takes kindly to when one of her staff members says she’s wrong either.

Bleh! I was wanting fish and chips and saw this place was doing all you can eat fish and chips. BIG MISTAKE! The only thing good were the french fries lol. The fish was very bland and not even adding to it helped it. The tar tar sauce was very bland and nasty. By the time I finished the fish I felt nauseous and asked for a sprite.

Service sucked. I assume the guy that took my order was the waiter. He didn’t check on me, didn’t ask me if I wanted refills, and the only time he asked how everything was in passing. Lol he literally walked by asking and didn’t stop.

The only time he did stop was when the people behind me asked him for something and when he walked by I happened to glance up, not at him, but he stumbled a bit and stopped. He didn’t acknowledge my thank you’s or anything.

When I came in no one greeted me. The other waiter guy just stared at me. Didn’t feel like a warm and inviting atmosphere. They weren’t busy. Another thing I found odd was the one guy in the stripped shirt went to the table next to me and asked the couple how was everything and if there was anything he could do for them.

He didn’t ask me and just asked me “how are you doing”. Wasn’t worth $23. It was a weird experience and definitely won’t be back.
