We stopped in Whitewater for a late lunch and found that Taco Fresco was one of the few places open. Very happy that it turned out that way because the food and the service were both phenomenal. We had quesadillas and a Mexican bowl and both were delicious. The quesadillas came with a wonderful house made Chipoltle ranch and the bowl was super fresh and included Mexican rice was the best we’ve ever had. The service was amazingly fast and the server was super friendly. We will definitely make our way back there to try some of their other dishes.

This place was an exceptional find! I ordered their spicy tsunami shrimp bowl, and it was seriously amazing! The waitress warned me that it was spicy (a warning I ignored because most Midwesterners think black pepper is spicy), and it truly was–but a very delicious spicy! Every element in the bowl had its own unique high-flavor profile, all of which was delicious enough to eat alone. I will definitely be back to try some of the other specials.
When I walked in, the cook was standing at the order window, so I thought it was an order-at-the-counter type of joint. It’s not–it’s a full service restaurant, and the waitress was very attentive. It’s a pretty tiny restaurant that doesn’t look like it fits much more than 20 people inside, but there are a handful of bistro tables outside that extend the space in good weather. The only other thing worth noting is that their sign is only posted on their window–there’s no sign above the awning, so it’s a little tricky to see initially, but if you keep your eyes on the windows, you’ll spot it. It’s worth the visit!

In the area and thought we’d check this place out! Went on a Saturday early evening, no one was in there, the 2 employees were quick to greet us and seated us. Slightly disappointed that we were not told of the specials and the special board was located under the corner, not easily visible from where we were seated. Ordered off the menu, the nachos were amazing! I tried the fried avocado taco, it was good, but definitely needed some seasoning or hot sauce, of which there was none on any of the tables & the fish taco, thus was delicious! It had a mango salsa and lots of flavor! Daughter has the chicken quesadilla, she said hers was just ok. Husband had the steak fajita, his was delicious! Hubby ordered refried beans and was brought a bowl of black beans, which he doesn’t care for. Horchata was EXCELLENT. Overall food was good, but expensive. Everything is served ala carte, there were not sauces offered to us and would have asked but server only checked on us once toward the end of the meal. Server was friendly. Was fun to try once, but we probably won’t go back.

We were in town for a marching band performance at Perkins Stadium, and decided to venture into town to grab a bite to eat.
I am so glad we chose Taco Fresco!
Trio sampler was fantastic! Especially the guacamole!!
The Fuji shrimp, street tacos with rice & beans, and the steak quesadilla were also great!

Fish Tacos with tiny cubes of sweet ripe mango and a fresh light slaw – perfect! The $6 “single taco” was a good lunch size for my petite appetite. My college student appreciates the vegetarian and vegan options too, and the generous portions of the bowls.

Amazing fresh gourmet tacos at a reasonable price. This is a destination restaurant….I drive 45 minutes for these tacos and I’ll drive it again. Not to mention, the service is impeccable! The cupcakes are divine.

I never liked hispanic food very much, but that was before going to Taco Fresco!
After reading about the Blue Zones in Central America and how the corn tortilla is a nutrient rich part of the Centenarian diet, I decided to try Taco Fresco against my dislike of tacos. I ordered a Shrimp Taco, a Chicken Taco, and an Asian Steak Taco, and they were all fantastic! Three tacos was a lot of food, though.
Each taco came with two corn tortillas, though one can order flour (but why would you?). The tacos were light on ingredients, but ingredients were seasoned very lightly, and each ingredient tasted fresh and flavorful. I do not like cilantro at all, and I was very happy that I wouldn’t really taste any. I think that they mostly used parsley.
If I had a complaint, it would be that Asian Steak Taco was too spicy. But that is probably only because I am not a fan of spicy food, and overall the taco tasted amazing.
I have since gone back and plan to go back several times in the future. Tacos are reasonably priced, so eating out at Taco Fresco is something I could do anytime. The service there is also very friendly, and their Margaritas are very good too.
My second favorite place to eat in Whitewater next to Fanatico. But Fanatico is more expensive, and I will probably eat at Taco Fresco more often than anywhere else in Whitewater!
