La Calera Mexican Bar and Grill was the brainchild of three best friends: Fidel Valdovinos, Adi Karamcheti and Luis Manuel Mejia Sanchez. They had often discussed opening a restaurant where the focus was on great food combined with a bright, welcoming and warm atmosphere.

Went for lunch…large portions, the salsa and chips were okay. The salsa with onions had very little onion flavor, like they do something to make the onions not be strong. Perhaps that’s so people’s breath isn’t offensive when they head back to the office? I think that was our major take away that there wasn’t any kick of flavor we were hoping for. We will go back to try other dishes. We had a very friendly server and dishes came out quick and fresh.

What a great find. I wish we have been going here for years. Portions are very generous for the price. Table was available when we got there lit folks were pouring out with take-out. Very friendly staff. Delicious food. We will certainly be back many many times.

I love to try new Mexican restaurants and I was around the McMurray area so I chose this place randomly. I got the Fajitas Texicanas and shared it with my boyfriend. The flavors on the chicken, steak and shrimp was the perfect amount. I dont cook with salt so it was nice that even with the flavor it wasn’t too salty. The rice wasn’t my favorite but the beans were pretty good. My boyfriend did get a Margherita too and it had a good flavor. The classic was good and had a hit of orange in it.
The server was very friendly and the food came out very quickly. The restaurant itself is kind of off a side road and not right off of route 19 but it was still easy to find and it was cute and quaint with plenty of parking and the inside was cute too.

Most of our food was delicious. My tamale was hard and dried out but they brought me a new much better one when I told them about it. The tortilla soup was not like any I’ve had before but it was good. The margaritas were good but nothing special. I would likely choose this restaurant again over other Mexican ones in the area.

I’m not big on Mexican food, but I saw the lights and wanted to see what the place was. Went in and decided to try it. The food was AMAZING, it wasn’t spicy so i could eat it. The place is clean and spacious, the staff was 100% FANTASTIC!!!! only thing i could say was the driveway was a little steep but still i would go back again.
CAME BACK A 2ND TIME & JUST AS PLEASED AND FANTASTIC AS THE 1ST TIME.
