In a nutshell, the food was very good to excellent but the service was simply odd.

We arrived, and the restaurant was not busy at all — maybe 3 tables occupied. One young woman barely acknowledged our presence when we asked if we could sit outside. Literally, we don’t know if she said more than the word “yes.” We sat outside, wondering if anyone would know we were here. She came back with menus; again, not saying anything. Then a young gentleman came by to take our order, and we don’t think he said anything except maybe the word “order?”

Our food came quickly: first, the papaya salad, which was really fresh. The larb lettuce wraps with chicken were delivered quickly thereafter, and it was quite flavorful and a nice size for an appetizer. We then shared the Hawaiian pineapple curry with chicken, which was solid, but not much pineapple in it.

By this point, a different employee started interacting with us, and he was really nice. Without hesitation, he said to order the mango sticky rice as it’s the best in the world. He was right as it was the best we’ve ever tasted before (and we’ve had it at other places)!

We would definitely dine here again despite the service quirks, and we would make sure we always saved room for the mango sticky rice.

Bill came to $92 before tip.

Meh. My husband ordered the mahi and I ordered the pad thai with shrimp. The mahi was super small portion for the price ($26). Not much to it, just fried fish and rice. The pad thai has good flavor, but only 5 small shrimp. Not worth $30! With 2 beers our total was $80 (without tip). There are much better places for that price.

Tried Koloa Thai Bistro for first time and it didn’t disappoint! Started with the papaya salad which was tangy and refreshing with a touch of hot chili oil. The beef Pad Thai and beef Pad See Ew were delish as was the mahi-mahi dinner with steamed veggies. Topped it off with the best Mango Sticky Rice dessert we’ve had in a while! Place is small so best to get a reservation but staff and service were great!

WE LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!! Whenever we are in Poipu we visit for their DELICIOUS Thai dishes. My wife loves their Papaya salad and Cashew Prik Pao and I’m addicted to the Koloa Pad Thai with Shrimp and/or chicken. Fantastic mixed drinks and mocktails plus a good selection of wine and beers. Always generous portions, crafted with Aloha and served by friendly staff! Reasonable prices and outdoor/indoor seating.Best meal we’ve found in the Poipu/Koloa area!!!

Great mixed veggies and chicken. I crave veggies when I travel. This dish is the answer. The pineapple combo dish was super…fried rice with beef, chicken and shrimp served IN a pineapple. We found this place a year and returned today and ordered the same meals! Very good service and lovely, small place.

Best Thai food I have ever had and the service was exceptional! If we didn’t eat here our last day on the island, we absolutely would have came back! This is a must stop spot! I couldn’t recommend more.

Nice change of menu after we’d eaten at mostly Hawaiian restaurants. They only had the Thai menu available, not the sushi or hibachi, but that’s what we wanted anyway. Very flavorful and good service. The restaurant itself is very nice also.

Really amazing dinner. From the papaya salad to the pad Thai to the mango sticky rice. Just wow! I was really impressed. It’s not always easy to find authentic style Thai. Great service as well.
