Originally opened in 2013, Brookland Eats proudly serves the locals of Person County, North Carolina and the surrounding counties. Choosing fresh ingredients from many local farms, we offer a variety of fresh, southern-style handmade dishes. Our interior boasts the rustic sensibilities of Roxboro while also paying tribute to Person County’s distinguished history. We are owned and operated by Chef David Gaydeski, who served for nearly a decade as Executive Chef to three governors at the North Carolina Executive mansion in Raleigh. His kitchen at the mansion was a dynamic working classroom where he taught inexperienced staff marketable culinary skills.

Reviews
Saw a few less than exemplary reviews recently so I wanted to give them a 2thumbs up. They did well for us.
You could tell this was the “nice” place to eat in the area. It was not fancy, but you saw birthday and business dinner parties going on. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting and the staff was super friendly.
Now, I know people have their option of the best chicken sandwich. If ypu are anywhere near here, please compare your pick against this sandwich. First, look at the size of that chicken. It was literally hanging off the bun. Second, it was cooked perfectly. Third, the sweet potatoes fries were the perfect side. This place was a hit!
My chicken lo mein was cold but had loads of flavor. Her beef stroganoff had no taste as well as cold.
My first go round I ordered the Brookland Burger as medium-rare. What arrived was a burger that was about a medium to medium-well outer 1/2, with the middle being somewhere around rare to raw-rare. The inner consistency was similar to steak tartare. It was seasoned good and my fries were great.
My second go round was the Fish & Chips. This is the first time I have ever ordered fish and chips that came with potato chips. I was surprised and disappointed to say the least. The fish was cooked perfectly, nice and crispy. It is a bit bland and unseasoned, but goes good with the tartar sauce.
The hushpuppies are great, the pimento spread is great with it, though I disliked how the spread was served on a bed of lettuce. I had to scrape the spread off of the lettuce as I did not want to eat the lettuce.
The service is great. Very fast to take the order, get drinks, and get the food out. Very friendly staff.
The atmosphere is really hit or miss. The first visit was quiet and good for a date night, the second visit was very loud and rowdy like a bar.
Overall, I will likely visit here again, though will pay attention to how full the parking lot is in hopes of a quiet atmosphere.
