I used to come to the Moorings a few years ago with my family and remember absolutely loving it. And the quality is still there in abundance. A really excellent high quality meal, in particular I loved the scallops for starter, sea bass for main and honestly I have not had as good a desert as the Brulee raspberry tart with vanilla ice cream – absolutely exceptional with the top texture of the brulee cracking! I will be here next year – make sure to book in advance
We had starter, main and desert + drink.

The knowledge and skill here focus on creating a top quality menu, expertly cooked, using the best local produce. Staff are friendly and attentive; professionals all. The prices are surprisingly reasonable considering the absolute top notch food. Ambience is non fussy and relaxed, with a nice buzzy vibe.
Seafood lovers are in for a real treat, but enough diversity in the menu to satisfy all tastes.
Wine list is spot on too.
I cannot fault this brilliantly run restaurant. My 1st visit but definitely not my last.
Highly, highly recommended if you appreciate what matters.

Have the broccoli starter! While that humble vegetable might not excite as much as the other options on the menu, the lemongrass and rhubarb medley that accompanies it is incredible.

The generous mains, inventive homemade puddings, unusual wine list and friendly service make for a memorable experience all-round. 5 stars

The Moorings

During our recent midweek break in Blakeney , Norfolk we enjoyed two fabulous evenings at The Moorings a lovely family run restaurant on the high street and just a short walk from the quayside.

Our first visit was on the tuesday where on arrival we were given a lovely welcome before being seated at our table. The restaurant was full and obviously very popular which as we found out was not hard to see why. The menu is a la carte with a lovely selection of starters , mains and desserts

We started with the Brown crab gazpacho, white crab, roast fennel, almonds and jamón as well as the Octopus salad, dill & buttermilk tarator, pickled shallots which were both delicious. We followed this with two fabulous fish dishes of Halibut, clams, grapefruit beurre monté and the Hake, salmorejo, cantaloupe melon and cucumber, samphire. These dishes were excellent and perfectly cooked. The watermelon with the hake was an absolute triumph. We then finished with dessert and we wasn’t to be disappointed here either as we enjoyed the Chocolate and Pecan Tart and the Rich Ginger Pudding with Toffee Sauce.

While we ended the evening with a coffee and chat with the team we asked if they had availability for the thursday and luckily for us they could squeeze us in. So with this we said goodbye and see you again very soon.

So two nights later we were back and the food was once again amazing , the staff were very friendly and yes they were busy again.

There were a couple of tweaks and changes on the menu which is down to the availability of the amazing local produce. This time we started with the Gnocchi, broad beans, courgette, çökelek cheese and the Tamarind & chilli pork belly, grilled nectarine, Blakeney leaves another two fabulous dishes. Now to the mains where I was in for an absolute treat. While my wife enjoyed the Sea bass, ratatouille and saffron fumet I was in heaven with the Pork chop, bone marrow ragu that was incredible. There was only one way to finish after that than with a Sticky Toffee Pudding and it was delicious while my wife enjoyed a delightful Cheese Course.

We finished again with a coffee and chat before parting ways with the hope of seeing them again someday. This is definitely a restaurant I would recommend. The food was amazing , the staff were friendly and the location is stunning so please take my advice and if you’re in the area book yourselves a table.

Thank You to all the team at The Moorings and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Excellent food from a fish focused menu. Not a huge selection but we much prefer a smaller number of dishes done well, which these were, with very well prepared and presented starters, mains and deserts. Friendly and helpful staff who were very accommodating of my wife’s food allergy. Desserts are excellent! Loses a star just for the two sittings, which means it feels a bit rushed if you are on the early evening sitting. However, I fully understand the financial need to do this as it is a small restaurant with limited covers.

My Mum booked her birthday meal here, and as I live in Australia I contacted them to see if I could pay for dinner as a surprise. Charlotte was so incredibly helpful, and also checked in with my Mum and step dad when they arrived. They had a fantastic meal, and the service was first class. The customer care has been excellent which is a sign of a classy place. Thank you to the team and especially to Charlotte for all her help.

We were staying in the neighbouring village and were looking for a place to go for dinner and found this place. Absolutely love this place. We had no booking but they squeezed us in for a later hour, and it was worth the wait. Food was delicious, we had a sea bass dish and a sea trout dish, and treated myself with a Plum & Almond Frangipane. Big thanks also to the amazing team on site.

I was expecting great things from The Moorings, there always seems to be plenty of people in there, which is usually a good sign.
It’s a pity my Ribeye Steak didn’t live up to expectations. Unfortunately I found it, and the dauphinoise potatoes that came with it, tasteless. I became concerned there was something wrong with my taste buds, but the beer I had, and both of our puddings, tasted absolutely great.
Don’t let this review put you off, I think I was just unlucky. The saving grace is that the staff are very friendly, hardworking and efficient.

We were so glad we visited this restaurant on our recent weekend trip to Norfolk. The food was insanely good, service great and it’s a lovely location. I have nothing negative to say at all. Even the price was extremely reasonable for the quality we received. Can’t recommend enough!

Very popular, so therefore full and very noisy.
Firstly, there are no cocktails or cocktails.
I was really looking forward to my pork belly, which just fell apart, and most of the crackling was crispy.
However, the accompaniment was too salty, and I had to push it aside as it spoilt it. The waitress apologised and said she would inform the chef.
Nduja and prune and onion seemed to be the salty culprit, but it wasn’t fiery as nduja is supposed to be.
The dauphinouis potatoes were absolutely delicious, perfect.
Dessert, brûlée Lemon Tart was enjoyable, too.
My husband was happy with his fish mains and crumble & custard.
