Don’t be misled by the negative reviews. I see Mama Wok puts in genuine effort — fresh and flavorful dishes, friendly service, and a cozy environment. My visit was a wonderful experience, and I got exactly the food I was craving. Highly recommend!

I found everything I ordered here to be pretty good, not the best, but definitely above average and worth the price. I would give this place a try if you live close, but wouldn’t go too out of my way. I will definitely order the Pork Chop with Salt and Pepper and the Sauteed String Beans again.

Update: Came back and have some more comments. First, it seems like they now have a menu book with many pictures, which really helped us decide what we wanted to get. The Black Fungus with Pickled Pepper was very refreshing and the Special Shrimp Roll was also very good and unique, as I have not seen this dish elsewhere. I thought the Crispy Beef was too sweet and not as umami as at other places. The Eggplant with Hot Garlic Sauce was also pretty average. Overall, I felt the prices were reasonable for the taste and portion size.

We have been here twice and are impressed both times. The services are really good, they’re very friendly and attentive. The food is very delicious and huge in portion. I’m disappointed that we didn’t find this place sooner, this is becoming our favorite to-go Chinese place. 10/10 would recommend.

I grew up in this area and recently moved back nearby, so getting to walk just 6 minutes to Mama Wok for dinner was a nostalgic treat—I hadn’t been back in over 10 years. The restaurant has been renovated and now feels much more open and modern. They’ve really focused their menu around Chinese cuisine, offering a great variety of dishes we typically love, like roasted duck, steamed dumplings, Fei Teng fish fillet, three cups chicken, and hot chili sauce beef.

We started with the black fungus mushroom garlic cucumber appetizer, which was cool, refreshing, and full of flavor. Then we shared the Szechuan-style dry hot pot, loaded with shrimp, fish balls, sliced meat, and lotus root. It was bold, spicy, and packed with texture. We also tried the eggplant dish, which was absolutely delicious—tender and richly sauced.

The food felt authentic and satisfying, and they also have familiar classics like spring rolls and Kung Pao chicken for those who may not want something super spicy or traditional. Service was friendly and attentive, and there’s plenty of free parking out front. One thing I did wish for: a drink menu. I would’ve loved a cold beer or a glass of Chardonnay while waiting for my friend.

Mains start around $18.95, so it’s on the pricier side for Chinese food—we spent about $35 per person without drinks. That said, the food and convenience make it worthwhile. I’d definitely come back to explore more of the menu, especially while I’m still walking distance. We’re moving closer to Potomac in the next couple months, so I’ll be taking full advantage of being able to pop in for a Thursday night dinner with friends while I still can.

It’s been many years since we last visited Mama Wok. One day, hubby was saying he missed the shrimp rolls we used to have frequently years ago. I suggested we call and ask if they still have this dish after the restaurant changed owners. They still do! The taste was just as we remembered. We ordered the Taiwanese bee hoon too and it was delicious! Not too salty like in many other restaurants, but still packed with ingredients and flavors. Service was great too. Also managed to catch up with some old acquaintances still working there. Definitely will be back again.

I have eaten here for a while, the food is amazing and the service is great, they were so nice. The food also got out rather quickly which was amazing. Went out of town and came back to it temporarily closed. Hope it reopens.

OMG! This is the best scallion pancake I’ve ever had! Better than all the other Chinese restaurants! The food tastes great, and the special yogurt ice cream is my favorite.

We tried at the restaurant for the first time and everything was great. The ambiance, service, and food were good, and we had a great dining experience. The steam fish, genaraI Tsu chicken, green beans, and drunken noodles were all delicious. I would recommend this restaurant.
