Nice atmosphere. You can actually talk while eating and drinking. This is a historic building. The Pub is in the basement. It is a cozy place with a fireplace and TV’s for watching sports. We ordered local beer and a mocktail. All were good. We had Noggin bread with sausage. It came with marinara for dipping. It was tasty, filling, abandoned hot and fresh. Yum! We also ordered a fish dinner, French Onion soup, and shrimp tacos. All came out hot and fresh. The portions are good size. I would recommend coming here for a bite, drinks, and to watch a sports game. The only issue was that we had a male waiter who seemed pre-occupied and took so long to come for our orders and bring us our food. Other than that, all was great.

Visiting Petoskey during winter months means your dining options are limited, especially if you don’t favor fast food. We were fortunate to have had Noggin Room Pub recommended by our hotel! On our way in, we asked a couple walking out if the food was any good; they both enthusiastically replied “get the pizza!”. While there were other options, we decided to go with their Hawaiian pizza, and are we glad we did! While there crust was thinner than we prefer, the flavor was amazing with just the right amount of sauce and cheese ratio.
This isn’t a large restaurant with seating for around 50-60 but we found it bright and cheerful, with families and couples enjoying the Olympics on several screens!

We were seated quickly. The cheese curds were the star of the meal. Both of us had the beast burger and fries. The burger tastes just like a normal burger (plus the onions, cheese, and toppings). The fries have that weird coating on them that a lot of people have now.

Cool atmosphere in the basement of the Perry Hotel. We were told a 20 min wait but was only 5 min. The complimentary popcorn was good. The server came right over and got our drink and food order. The food came out quicker than we expected which was nice. Wife said the French onion soup was very good. (Not too salty or anything.) I was impressed with the amount of fries that came with our burgers. (I get tired of restaurants skimping on them.) The live music was loud but good. $58 for a pop, margarita, soup and 2 burgers w/ fries felt like a good value. I’d go back.

Sorry to say, post pandemic, things have changed here. The menu is smaller/simpler, the service/training has slipped (I’m sure due to labor issues related to the pandemic). Buffalo chicken dip everything but chicken. Fish and Chips were fine. The pizza was lacking however.

One last issue was that when I requested a beer in the mug that I had earned some time ago by purchasing over $400 of various beers offered, I was told that the Beer Mug Program’” had been fazed out. The manager indicated that customers were notified by Facebook sometime last year. We don’t subscribe to Facebook. And we visited Stafford’s twice last year while it was upstairs and weren’t notified of this. Apparently, unclaimed mugs were destroyed. This is certainly not the end of the world for me. But, I’m disappointed.

12/23/23- Back again to see if things have improved since our last visit and the announcement of the Smith family selling the whole Stafford’s enterprise. This evening Sara took care of us in the dining room. Tonight we had the Perry Bib Salad with Chicken and French Dip, along with a couple of adult beverages. We found the service to rate 9/10, the food 8/10, prices 7/10, overall value 8/10, the ambience/atmosphere rated 6/10. Christmas Spirit was definitely missing, with very little festive decor. However, Sara did a great job of taking and delivering our food and beverages. The food was up to “normal” Stafford’s standards. We were disappointed to see that a relatively new policy tacks on a 3% service fee when using a credit card; seems inflationary to me. Plus, when we inquired about purchasing a Stafford’s Gift Card for out-of-town guests coming in from California, we discovered there was a new surcharge added to the cost of the purchase of the gift card for use on THEIR property! That seems unusual; something that we’ve not encountered elsewhere. So, I guess I’m still disappointed. Most likely, won’t return here.

Stopped in for the live music and pizza. Great service and the pizza was spot on. Enjoyed a few drinks and music. Lee Fayssoux was the live music. Enjoyed it and our time there.

The dining room in this basement restaurant is very cozy. Live music started at 7:30 on a Saturday night. We shared a Tuscan pizza. I thought it was good, but my foodie wife noted that the dough for the crust didn’t have enough salt and the garlic wasn’t roasted properly.

Service was prompt at the beginning, but not as much when we were ready to go.

My wife and I visited the Noggin Room for the first time a few weeks ago for a cocktail and a snack. We were pleasantly surprised not only by the atmosphere and the service, but the live music as well. Our server, Tony, was attentive and engaging. He offered to take a drink off of our tab that we didn’t like, we declined but appreciated the offer. The musician was Todd Aldrich, he was engaging and interacted with the crowd. The cheese curds we had for a snack were the “best ever” according to my better half.
