Going to the Springhouse wasn’t actually my plan today. I headed to Hidden Springs to check out Rooted which is a coffee joint attached to the restaurant. On their website, it said they closed at 2. I didn’t realize that this coffee shop is only 7 minutes from my house which is a lot easier than heading down State. So, my daughter and I made our way to Rooted for an afternoon caffeinated beverage.

We showed up a little after 1. Come to find out they decided to close at 1 so I didn’t get a chance to try out their coffee. My daughter was hungry so we decided to head into the Springhouse to get something to eat.

To be honest, their price point here is quite amusing. I get that you’re in a up scale area but let’s be realistic. 20 bucks for a burger? My daughter got their lunch special which was a chicken Cesar wrap and it was still 17 bucks. I wasn’t in the mood to eat anything big so I got something off their appetizer menu. The fried cauliflower seemed up my alley so I ordered that as my meal.

It was mid afternoon so it was pretty chill. There were a few guests dining there. My daughter and I hung out while our food was being prepared. The venue is very big. There’s a nice bar area with a big screen TV. Great for conversation, drinks and football. There are a good amount of tables that can handle quite a few people. The decor was very simple country shabby. I love the old school photos of the farmhouses they displayed. I adore old photos that carry so much history. It’s cool to see what life was like back then.

My fried cauliflower came out first. The presentation of the fried cauliflower was rather annoying. Like they were thrown on one side of the basket cause it was just easier for them. I was also surprised I didn’t get any type of dipping sauce with them. It’s humorous really, 9 bucks for cauliflower and no dip. No plates, no napkins, no silverware was given when my food was dropped off. I guess we were supposed to wipe our hands on our clothes and eat with our hands. So that tip that was at the end of my transaction is for…. service? What service? I went and asked for some utensils. My daughter’s lunch was dropped off after we started on the cauliflower.

I can tell my cauliflower had been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. They weren’t hot. The exterior of the cauliflower was not crunchy. The sauce had been sitting on the fried batter too long and it became mushy. I scraped off the mushy batter and just ate the cauliflower with no dipping sauce. My daughter’s wrap looked pretty basic for 17 bucks. We also found a blonde hair in her food. We were offered a new wrap but who wants a new wrap when my daughter just chewed on someone’s hair.

The venue is nice. This joint has been on my to go list for a while so it was cool I got to scope it out today. But, the food was nothing special. They start the tip percentage at 20% for you to get your own utensils, napkins and beverage. Tipping is earned and or atleast be given some decent service but taking our order at the bar or dropping off food isn’t service to me. I’ll pass on the subpar overpriced food and lack of service. I’ll stick to somewhere in my neck of the woods.

Tucked in the foothills, this cozy café feels like a friend’s cabin—warm, and full of good smells. The pot pie was D-Lish! Friendly faces, mountain views, and comfort food done right.

We had a chance to try out this restaurant recently. What a great experience! We were able to sit outside with our dogs. There was plenty of outdoor seating on a beautiful Saturday night in the spring. The inside is big and open with plenty of craft beers and local wines and multiple televisions to watch the game. The ordering at the counter was convenient and the service was friendly. The portions were excellent. Just the right amount of onion rings and tots. The pulled pork sandwich had plenty of pork with a nice fluffy bun and the BLTA was excellent. The serving of huckleberry was a generous serving and went perfectly with the flowerless chocolate cake. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the NW Boise area, Eagle or Hidden Springs.

Came here for the first time, for lunch. I was excited and was expecting a pretty good experience, considering the location and pictures online.

The food was something that reminded me of a Carls Jr meal and at $18 before the tip, that’s not a good thing. The chicken patty seemed to be something that came frozen off a semi truck which is a major disappointment. The sandwich tasted ok but the ratio of chicken to sandwich is not good.

The service was friendly but they don’t provide service at the table other than to bring you your food that you order at the counter when you walk in. Not a bad thing but not what I was expecting.

The atmosphere is nice though. It’s very calm and relaxed.

Might be back to try their dinner at some point to give them another try but I was definitely not impressed during this trip.

We usually love this restaurant, which is why our experience today was so disappointing. Our chicken pot pie arrived completely cold—like straight from the fridge. After flagging down a food runner (after being ignored by who i assume was the owner at the bar), we got a replacement, which was warm but still not hot, and there was no apology or compensation offered.

What made the experience worse was how unwelcome we felt. The owner constantly chatted and checked on other patrons, but blatantly ignored us, which was uncomfortable and cliquey in the small community. After finishing our meal, we asked for boxes—having to ask four different people before finally getting them after 20 mins. This all happened after we’d already tipped, which made the poor service even more frustrating.

Cold food, ignored requests, and a cliquey atmosphere made us feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely we’ll be back.

Amazing amazing place. Travelled to the area to photograph a wedding with my family. It’s a small town. Joan and her staff take great care of you. They answered all the questions we had. The rooms were clean and everything was perfect. They made sure we felt welcomed. You need to ask them about the key to the pool if you like swimming. It’s not just an open pool and it’s about 2 blocks away from the Dry Creek Mercantile. We loved our stay and it felt like home away from home.

Springhouse is the perfect mix of a great restaurant, a fun hangout, and the place to go to end the day. Went for a daddy-daughter date. Great food options for kids, while also sophisticated culinary options for adults. Had the cuban, off their weekly special menu. I hope they keep it and add it to the regular menu. A cuban is my favorite sandwich and I have tried them at many places. This one was by far better than any other cuban I have eaten in Boise. Their fries and tots are the perfect flavor and crunch. But when puts this place over the top is that even when busy, the set up makes it so you feel at home and can have a casual evening talking with family and friends.

Well worth the drive to this hidden gem. Burgers were absolutely delicious with some of the best fries and tots around. That being said our biggest gripe was that the portion size of the tots was pitiful and the portion of fries was barely acceptable. We did go on a Wednesday night and they had trivia which added to the experience. Will go again.
