We tried this restaurant out for happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon at 3 PM. We had made reservations through OpenTable and when we arrived, we were asked if we wanted to sit indoors or outdoors. We chose a table indoors and had a very nice first time experience. We all had the red sangria which was delicious and we watched the bartender make it in front of us. Dry, which is what we like not sweet with a good serving of fruit in it. We had the meatballs, flatbread, and the calamari. Our server came back to tell us that the fryer was just turned on and it would be about 10 minutes, which was fine with us. When the calamari arrived, it was delicious. One note for the restaurant chef is that the calamari could be a little bit more tender. We also discovered that Wednesday nights are 40% off wine night so we ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir, which was delicious and we ordered a second order of the meatballs. Furthermore, we also decided to order lemoncello cake. Which was quite delicious. All in all definitely returning for happy hour and most likely for dinner. Service was stellar. We also met the manager who was explaining to us about some of the ideas they have coming up.

What a delightful place. It’s located a bit up the hill from downtown SD on a nice quiet corner. Service was spot on perfect. Food is terrific with a nice, reasonable wine selection. I had the lasagne bolognese and it was as good as any I have ever had. Appetizer was fried calamari and it was good but maybe not the absolute best I’ve ever eaten. They need to work on how they cook that one. The cannoli for dessert was excellent as was the espresso. The interior itself is very nicely appointed, quiet and pleasant. Great place for a nice romantic date and there were a number of well dressed couples in the place doing exactly that. Next time I’m in town with my wife I will be sure to do the same. The patio looks great as well.

Authentic Italian Gem Near the San Diego Symphony!

We had an incredible dinner at Osteria Cotto e Mangiato on Friday, October 17th, and it truly felt like we’d flown to Italy for the evening. We selected this restaurant for its proximity to the San Diego Symphony, and it exceeded every expectation.

From the moment we called to move our reservation from 5:30 to 6:30, the staff was so kind and accommodating. We arrived at 6:15 and mentioned our show started at 7:30, and they made sure our meal was beautifully served by 6:30 — we finished right on time.

We enjoyed the Frittura Mista (crispy calamari, shrimp, lemon, mustard aioli, and marinara), the Fettuccine Alfredo e Pollo (perfectly creamy Alfredo with roasted organic chicken), and a flatbread topped with prosciutto and assorted meats that was absolutely delicious.

The service was warm and genuine, the ambiance relaxed yet elegant, and the flavors truly authentic. A big thank you to Andrea Provino and the team for such a memorable experience. We can’t wait to come back!

I came here a year ago. So good I came back and brought my family too. I personally am very picky when it comes to Italian food, it is really really good. Honestly the best I’ve had in the states. The sauce is authentic, amazing flavors. Kids loved it too and something on the menu for all of us. Wine menu is always great and they have listed what pairs with food to perfection. Do not pass up on trying the sausage or the meatballs. Relaxing and calm environment. Dog friendly as well even a menu for your fur baby. I didnt get before photos(excited to eat)

Had an amazing experience here while visiting San Diego! I don’t typically love going out for Italian food or pasta because I like making it at home, but because we were traveling and it was right across the street from our hotel, we decided to try. I am so happy we did because the Cacio e Pepe was some of the best pasta I have ever had. Creamy, flavorful, and great portion sizes. We also had the garlic bread and I would highly recommend, it was delicious.

Aside from the outstanding food, our server, Isa, was lovely. She was attentive and friendly, we had a great conversation with her while getting our bill. Our table was seated outside and nice and comfortable.

When we come back to San Diego, we will definitely be back!

What an amazing experience! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was outstanding.

We tried several appetizers, but I’d love to highlight the Sicilian Caponata and the Veggie Lovers Bruschetta—both were absolutely delicious and full of flavor.

For the main course, we had the Seared Sicilian Ahi Tuna, which was perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. Every bite was a delight!

To finish off the meal, we enjoyed two incredible desserts: the Limoncello Cake and the Tiramisu Della Nonna. Both were rich, flavorful, and the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal.

Another great touch was their selection of non-alcoholic wine, which is a wonderful option for those who want to enjoy the experience without alcohol.

I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to come back!
