The bartender Linda was the epitome of what customer service should be. Plus the drinks were great. If they had more of a menu I’m sure that would have been amazing too overall I enjoyed my time there. Definitely will be returning.

Feel very lucky to be staying near this place. If you’re in the area, ask for a Golden Delicious or PB&J. Great drinks! Probably my favorite bartender I’ve ever had. Prices are also really good in comparison with other bars in the area. Thanks for a great night out!

My neighborhood tavern when I lived in PDX for a time. They treated everyone with respect. Good bar food and two pool tables

If there were an award for the worst bar in Portland, Top of the Hill Tavern would take the crown. This place is everything you don’t want in a neighborhood hangout: run-down, unfriendly, and openly hostile to anyone who isn’t part of the so-called “regulars.”

From the moment you walk in, the night bartender makes sure you feel unwelcome. Bitter and rude, they’ll literally tell you not to sit near the regulars, as if you’ve crashed some secret club instead of stepping into a public bar. Try to play pool and it only gets worse — I was flat-out disrespected, called a “pool shark” like I was hustling, just for shooting a decent game. Instead of creating a fun vibe, the staff actively looks for ways to embarrass and alienate customers.

The drinks are watered down, the atmosphere is depressing, and the place itself is dirty: sticky tables, bathrooms you don’t want to touch, and a pool table that looks like it’s been rotting since the 90s.

Montavilla has plenty of good spots, but this isn’t one of them. Don’t waste your money or your night here — unless you enjoy being insulted, overcharged, and treated like an outsider.

because I brought my 30lb service animal in with me the bartender screamed at me that the dog and I have to leave because she is allergic to dogs… that is highly unprofessional and completely unfair and wrong. I can have my service animals wherever I go. He can tell me when I am going to have a seizure

Horrible funeral music, crappy karaoke crappy because its a small place and even if the singer is good, it still hurts your ears because they need to update their equipment. Sorry guys

Basic Portland dive bar but that’s what they are aiming for. Comfort. Decent strong drinks, usual bar food. I had tots but the basket was huge. They have karaoke, but I’ve never been there for that. Weekend nights get busy. Staff is always friendly. Multiple TV’s usually playing sports.

Just a small trashy bar, but it’s my small trashy bar.
The food is mediocre at best, and the pool tables are the worst I’ve ever played on, but the experience is like living in an episode of trailer park boys. Nobody is here to impress anyone, so everyone kinda lets their guard down more than usual, it’s a great place to meet people in a very casual setting.
